Tuesday was the second day of the annual Lee College Classic tournament and teams were fighting to see who would advance to the championship game later that evening. The Platinum chip game concluded with North Shore having a dominant outing over Friendswood and the Gold chip had Baytown Sterling taking a victory over Baytown Lee. Both of these matchups had several prospects who went above and beyond proving themselves, but here are some of the hoopers who really caught my eye with high IQ and consistently good play throughout the tournament both days.

2027 forward [player_tooltip player_id='2252018' first='Sean' last='Mayberry'] out of North Shore was one of the most well-rounded players I watched in both days of action at Lee College. He constantly found different ways to impact the game, such as dominating the glass, scoring from all three levels, and being a willing and unselfish playmaker out of the post. Sean's length and wingspan allow him to get to the basket at will, finish over defenders, and shoot contested jumpers. Coming off strong grassroots season this summer; Sean has been having a great year so far and will look to continue this hot streak as North Shore rides into district with a great wave of momentum off a strong and statement championship win.

Derrick was a force on offense for the Sterling Raiders in their huge win over the Lee Ganders for the Gold Championship. Brooks consistently got to the rim over tough defense, made several tough shots in the midrange, and got steals off playing the passing lanes well during defensive stands. Brooks is also an underrated transition player as he showed that he doesn't always need to score on fastbreaks to be effective, but he can be just as much a distributor as he is a bucket-getter. I liked his hustle and capitalizing on opportunities this game as he put himself on my radar for the rest of this upcoming season.

Sam Walker was a monster on the offensive boards in the Mustang's championship win over Friendswood in the Platinum division. Finishing with about 6 or 7 alley-oop dunks in this game, Sam was consistently a momentum mover for North Shore throughout the duration of this contest. His athleticism was unmatched on the court, and he is not scared of anybody who stands on the opposing team. He will take the toughest matchup to guard and has underrated energy on both ends. Walker is very explosive and can rise and finish above tough paint defense as well as blocking shots everywhere on the court. I will look for Sam to have a big season, and he has just received a collegiate offer coming off this strong performance as well!

Mikey Smith made winning plays with the ball in his hands during Sterling's win over Lee in the Gold championship game. Mikey was a playmaker who knows how to adjust the pace of the game to benefit his team, and he also has great start and stop ability as the main playmaker on offense for the Raiders. He is a pass-first point guard but does not hesitate to shoot when left open by defenders. I liked his agility on defense as well and his court awareness to always know where his teammates and the ball was at all times. One of my more underrated players in the Lee College Classic, Smith definitely put me on notice with this performance in crunch time.
