Brooks has been the glue for this ground breaking Baytown Sterling team that enters the post season for the 1st time in decades! Hard nosed and competitive, Brooks will look to prove that he belongs amongst the best of the 2027 class! Brooks is a double-double threat and his team will rely heavily on him if they want to continue to make history.

Derrick was a force on offense for the Sterling Raiders in their huge win over the Lee Ganders for the Gold Championship. Brooks consistently got to the rim over tough defense, made several tough shots in the midrange, and got steals off playing the passing lanes well during defensive stands. Brooks is also an underrated transition player as he showed that he doesn’t always need to score on fastbreaks to be effective, but he can be just as much a distributor as he is a bucket-getter. I liked his hustle and capitalizing on opportunities this game as he put himself on my radar for the rest of this upcoming season.

6’3 2027 Derricks Brooks was super efficient all weekend for LUE. His frame is prototype, super long and shifty with the ball on the perimeter. I loved that he didn’t shy away from the midrange and floater area taking advantage of his size and smaller defenders on offense. Defensively he’s just long and was able to frustrate ball handlers or cause easy takeaways on the perimeter. Overall he was super tough and should be on your radar heading into his sophomore campaign
