This time of year, most teams have their go-to guys and their lineups. But that doesn't mean guys can't get better or that teams can't improve on the margins. Here are six prospects who are taking small steps in-season that could payoff down the line in the tournament:

[player_tooltip player_id='2352453' first='Chase' last='Little'] | 6'4 W 2026 Dover

In the midst of Dover's run this month, Little's defensive playmaking was underrated. He caused a ton of havoc on-ball and at times as a secondary rim protector. His loudest game on that end was when he snagged 4 steals and 1 block on the road at Smyrna. He also got a pair of steals at St. Georges. So although his offensive production came in spurts, his defense was consistent throughout and could be his calling card long-term.

[player_tooltip player_id='2551577' first='Aizyon' last='Matthews'] | 6'5 W 2026 Seaford

The Bluejays played a couple marquee games in this middle part of the season and Matthews left his mark in both. At Middletown on the 6th, he put up an 11-point, 12-rebound, including 3 treys and 2 steals. Then at home versus Laurel on the 29th, he dropped a whopping 20 points, 18 boards, 6 assists and 3 blocks. His activity on defense fueled the offense when points were hard to come by. Moreover, his focus and the application of his physical tools on that end will continue to be a weapon as the season goes on.

[player_tooltip player_id='2546430' first='Caden' last='Sagers'] | 6'1 G 2028 William Penn

Although his minutes fluctuate from game-to-game, the contribution from Sagers is constant – floor spacing. He made at least one three in each of his last five games, including two against Delcastle. If he can pair that with some more production on the glass or on defense, Sagers will be a good third man next to Riley-Garlick and Whitaker for seasons to come.

[player_tooltip player_id='2767447' first='Brae' last='Sosa'] | 6'0 G 2029 Salesianum

On a team laden with seniors, the talented freshman is finding ways to impact winning that don't involve scoring and that's primarily as a dynamic point of attack defender. Sosa is dialed on-ball where he can suffocate his man and cut him off from getting into the lane. He also finds moments as a helper to leap up and reject someone else's shot. So when he does score, it's often in transition on the heels of a defensive board or a turnover he forced.

[player_tooltip player_id='2380968' first='Nyle' last='Watson'] | 6'0 G 2028 Sanford

Watson sees the floor as well as any lead guard in his class, but he plays next to two other point guards. So he's able to stay on the floor and play winning basketball by impacting the game off the catch and without the ball. In a short time span, he's become almost automatic spotting up from three. That's helped him get more closeouts that he can attack to get to the paint. Watson is also an amazing rebounder for his size, usually taking a couple coast-to-coast every game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2815390' first='David' last='Woodson'] | 6'3 W 2028 MOT Charter

Despite not beginning the season as part of the Mustangs' regular rotation, Woodson earned his way into it over the last couple weeks. His agility and length give them another body who can effectively crash the boards and cover ground on defense. Versus Delmarva Christian, MOT's starting wing got in quick foul trouble, so the team needed Woodson to fill the void: and he did just that. He played within himself by putting his wingspan to use as a help defender and kept the ball moving on offense. But he also came down with multiple offensive rebounds and scored off the catch. So even though Woodson didn't play in the second half, he chipped in 5 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists & a steal and the Mustangs ultimately got the win
