The hyper-athletic Matthews took a leap due to his poise as a decision-maker and the controlled chaos he created on defense. His ability to grab-and-go on fastbreaks and make basic passing reads made him a more dynamic threat. And because he could jump with anybody, Matthews racked up the boards and stocks that increased his opportunities to showcase the offensive skills. So with a bit more refinement at Potomac State College, he should be a scholarship player in no time.
