The IAC/MAC Challenge took over Sidwell Friends this past Saturday, bringing together some of the best talent from two of the DMV's top leagues under one roof. This article will feature a sample of guards from the DMV the caught my eye during the full day of hoops. These prospects spent a good portion of their time showing why they were a level above the rest.

Josh finished this game with over 25 points in a close finish. He helped the Bulldogs control the game from start to finish against a hot opponent. His intensity and handle on the game flow was impressive to see. He was in total control of which shot he wanted to take, where he wanted to send the opposing offense, and how to get the best shot for the team.

James was a nice constant in a tough battle for Bullis in the closing IAC/MAC game. He mixed up his points nicely, hitting shots from outside after spotting up or making timely cuts to the basket for a quick 2. Kept his head up and found open areas on the floor to exploit both on and off the ball. Very efficient game for James and he ended up leading the team in scoring at the end of the night. Had 13 points and didn't shoot or miss the ball much.

Ty was consistent through the entirety of the game. After falling down big early, Flint Hill kept fighting to eventually tie the game late in the third, and a lot of that can be attributed to Ty's offensive output. One of the team's leading scorers and did a great job of remaining a threat while making sure his shots were efficient. Ty gets to the rim just as easy as he was able to pullup. Went right by the defense using speed and strength.

Once again Marcus came out to an event and lit up the floor with his shooting. He showed again every bit of a lethal 3&D wing, hitting shot after shot. When a player has found their niche and sticks to it, everyone on the floor gets a bit better. That's what Marcus has brought to the game not just this weekend but in a magnitude of games for SSASA. Hard to watch one of their games without seeing Marcus go for at least 12 points on 4 three. Even when the defense committed to cutting off the catch-and-shoot prowess of Marcus, he was able to put the ball down on the floor and get to the basket or pull up in the midrange. True definition of an eye-catching guard.

I was quite impressed with the performance Bruiser put out this weekend at IAC/MAC. Took him a quarter or two to hit his scoring stride, but he was all over the floor making plays beforehand. His defense on the ball-handler caught my attention as well, rare to see him get beat defensively or give up on a play. Came away with a tong of rebounds that started giving him the opportunity to start taking the ball coast to coast against the struggling defense. Bruiser had a lot of non-scoring plays where he got two feet into the paint and found an assist somewhere on the floor. After a first half of distribution and a couple three-balls, he became and absolute blur in transition. Flew by defenders repeatedly to continue pouring on to their big second half lead. Bruiser has an incredible sense for when to score the ball and when to attack with intentions to create offense. Another premier showing from the star junior guard.

Xavier made play after play in an interesting matchup at the challenge. Hit a collection of critical shots in this game to both keep his team in arms reach or to potentially take back the lead by the end of the game. Got into the paint a number of times after attacking the closeout and finished with power and strength, converting and-1's and/or drawing fouls. His shot selection was tremendous, mixing in a good amount of perimeter jumpers and adding in strong slashes to the basket. Xavier played defense at a high level and came up with a lot of steals and reflections in the passing lane. Never let up and benefited both himself and the team as Saint James almost came from behind to accomplish a big win at the very start of the IAC/MAC Challenge. Xavier established himself well as a rising star freshman.
