On Saturday Jan 24th I watched the match-up of 3A Pusch Ridge Lions hosting the 3A Coolidge Bears. Both teams will have a good chance of being in the OPEN for the Copper Division and both are capable of a deep playoff run.

I checked out the Varsity game.

Here were the standouts on the night

All the stats are unofficial.

Varsity Game (75-54 Coolidge won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2883787' first='Turner' last='Armstrong'] Coolidge (Pictured)

A pure point guard is almost a throw back. He sees the court with next level court vision with up the court ropes, drive and kicks and gets the ball out of his hands so quickly making the game easy for his teammates. He will score with pull-up threes or off the catch, floaters and can get a step on his defender. He scored 23 points with 10 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='2039508' first='Preston' last='Dees'] Coolidge

An undersized and strong framed power forward with a wider build and longer arms. He is a top of the food chain rebounder in and out of his area and springs up quicker than you would assume. He will score with tough shots in the lane with either hand and fights hard for position. He scored 12 points with nearly 10 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='2888700' first='Shameer' last='Stump'] Coolidge

A freshmen defensive scoring guard with some athleticism. He is a good on-ball defender and rebounds well. He will score with downhill takes as a natural slasher with his left or right hand. He will hit the three off the catch and he is a stud on the break and can finish above the rim. He finished with 9 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2786906' first='Porter' last='Dees'] Coolidge

The younger brother is another power forward who is undersized but can live on the glass using his girth and strength. He scores with offensive rebound put backs and gets to the free throw line and scored 7 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3438548' first='Shane' last='Enos'] Coolidge

A scoring wing forward who is a little undersized but he does a little of everything for them. He will rebound, move the ball and score. He will hit the three off the catch, finish in traffic, get on the glass with offensive rebounds and score in transition. He scored 9 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3438562' first='Kelshawn' last='Dixon-Wright'] Coolidge

A quick on quick undersized true point guard will facilitate and break pressure better than most. He has speed in the open court to blow past his opponents and will score with floaters or contested layups. He finished with 4 points and multiple assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986833' first='Noah' last='McKinney'] Pusch Ridge

A scoring guard/wing had a good showing in the loss. He scored 19 points with deep threes off the catch, high level mid-range pull-ups above the defenders, he will rip thru, go coast to coast, use the runners and had some tough and-1 takes. He grabbed 5 rebounds with 2 blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956213' first='Ben' last='Lambe'] Pusch Ridge

A strong framed power forward who will gobble up rebounds in and out of his area with a plus motor. He will score with left hand layups, floaters, threes off the catch and he is a sneaky good passer. He scored 8 points and grabbed 5+ rebounds with two blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='3438751' first='Christian' last='Munoz'] Pusch Ridge

A pure point guard who plays from the neck up. He is a heady player and sees the court well and moves the ball like you should. He will hit the three off the catch and gets to the basket with a quicker burst. He is quick on the ball to collect steals and score 5 points with a few assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='2990865' first='Santino' last='Almazan'] Pusch Ridge

A scoring lead guard can play on or off the ball. He will make some plays for his teammates but he is trying to score. He will shoot the three off the catch or pull and will smartly cut off ball and uses the runner game. He will also get himself to the FT line and finished with 9 points.

On Saturday Jan 24th I watched the match-up of 3A Pusch Ridge Lions hosting the 3A Coolidge Bears. Both teams will have a good chance of being in the OPEN for the Copper Division and both are capable of a deep playoff run.
