PHI took in some Southwest Conference action on Tuesday night as Collinsville traveled to Belleville West. Competitive game throughout with both teams making runs, but in the end it was Belleville West protecting home court winning 49-43. We dive into it here in 5 Takeaways: Belleville West vs Collinsville!

Cason Has Breakout Game

The player of the game was Belleville West 6'3” junior shooting guard TJ Cason. Long and angular lefty was quick to the offensive glass, hit a pair of threes, and where he was most effective was getting behind the back end of the Collinsville defense. He did it multiple times in the 16 point outing as he got past the back line to finish on passes from Lloyd and then threw down a nasty alley-oop in the 4th quarter. Definitely a junior to watch in the metro east.

Lloyd Impacts in Other Ways

Top prospect in this game is top 10 junior [player_tooltip player_id='2458187' first='J'dyn' last='Lloyd']. The big and strong two guard had a nice slash for a layup early along with a reverse take on a baseline drive. The jumper wasn't falling in the first half for Lloyd on this night so he decided to leave his mark in other ways. That included his passing in the half court where he found teammates with cross court dishes along with dimes to Cason behind the backline of the defense. Lloyd scored off movement on a cut and got to the line. Solid job on the glass as well in a 9 point outing.

X-Factors for Belleville West

Belleville West sophomore power forward Amauri Fenton caught our attention with his play. The 6'5” 2028 post has nice length and broad shoulders. Liked the activity on the defensive end, high pointing rebounds, and being active on the offensive glass. Also used his length getting a key steal late. Rickey Salmond is a small senior guard that made several clutch plays late. The southpaw brought senior leadership when it was truly a 50/50 game with a couple key buckets and playing with poise. Micah May is another senior that caught our attention with his perimeter shooting. Tyson Montgomery brought them a spark at the end of the first half.

Senior Small College Gems for Collinsville

For the Kahoks 2026 Jordan Taylor is a 6'6” power forward that showed some flashes. Early on his shot blocking was a major presence in the game as he swatted an array of shots around the rim and in the mid-range. Very good rebounder defensively boxing out and snatching it out of the air. Quickness and athleticism was also seen on the offensive end for rebounds where he was fouled. Good athlete that ran the floor finishing with 10 points. Fellow senior [player_tooltip player_id='2441567' first='Jace' last='Wilkinson'] is the heart and soul of the Collinsville team. Tough lead guard that has a nice mid-range and soft touch finishing game along with being able to shoot it from deep. Went for 13 points.

Potential There for 2029 Kahoks Post

Second look at Collinsville 2029 big man [player_tooltip player_id='2963993' first='Kaleb' last='Garcia'] in the last couple weeks. The 6'7” five man has the physical tools with his length and frame. Showed touch once again on a corner three. Would like to see him be a little more active on the glass. Plenty of time to get there as he is definitely one of the top posts very early in the process.
