Many high school seniors haven't committed to their college programs yet. Some have, though, and I think it's interesting to think about how their games could translate at the next level.

Let's look at 5 D3 commits who I believe are poised to thrive as freshman for their respective college programs next season.

I honestly can't understand what would have to happen for Sanchez not to get some serious burn next season at Union College. The 6-foot-1 guard might not wow with his size, but he's remarkably athletic and is quite difficult to stop when he has a head of steam. He can run your team quite effectively, but he's also able to pick his spots offensively and take over the game when he needs to. He's the biggest part of Beaver's incredible start this season, and he's going to be an excellent D3 player for as long as he wants to be.

Everything about Spinoso is absolutely perfect for the NESCAC. The 6-foot-5 forward is obviously undersized for the big man position, but I've seen him defend his behind off against far larger players enough times to know that he can do it at the college level, even in the best conference in the country. Offensively, he has massively improved his three point shot and is one of the better passers and playmakers at the front court position in the entire NEPSAC. Spinoso is going to Trinity, one of the best D3 teams in the country, but I think he'll be hard to keep off the court because of all the little things he does and how much of a ball connector he is offensively.

I've loved Brennan's game for a while now. He has gotten consistently stronger over the last year-plus and is able to totally dislodge and effortlessly move wing defenders at the NEPSAC level. Sure, the Connecticut College commit will be playing against stronger players next season, but he'll be able to use his slow steps and skill to outsmart bigger and stronger players. His three point shot will probably also prove to be a lot better than it's thought to be right now. Brennan's game should translate wonderfully.

Simmons has arguably been St. Paul's best player this season. The 6-foot-1 guard has scored steadily while also facilitating for his squad, and he has done an excellent job discerning the flow of the game in terms of the times to be aggressive vs. unselfish. His outside shot is continuing to improve, too, so he should be able to score at all three levels in the NESCAC next season for Colby. Defensively, he slides his feet incredibly well and has really good hands. He's playing at a super high level right now, and he's more than prepared to excel next season from the jump.

Schorr is a knock-down three-point shooter who has been shooting the lights out this season for a very solid Hotchkiss team. The 6-foot-3 guard has a beautiful release and gets it off super quickly, so when you combine those skills with his size and length, it makes him super effective. He also does an excellent job driving closeouts and making decisions at the nail and in the paint. He's just a fundamentally sound, smart basketball player who should really excel at the next level based on how well he's playing in the NEPSAC right now.
