There were a ton of great matchups on Thursday night, including several between upstate and downstate teams. There were too many to keep track of but I tuned into four of the best ones. Here's my recap of the players who showed out the most:

[player_tooltip player_id='2364771' first='Vince' last='Evans III'] | 5'10 G 2026 Seaford

With the bulk of the defense loaded up to stop him, Evans III still created opportunities to score against St. Georges. The paint was clogged, so he went into his bag for jumpers, knocking down tough twos and eventually threes. Evans III also found slight cracks in the defense and used those gaps to distribute when the Hawks crashed in on him. Meanwhile, he sped up opposing guards into making mistakes that gave the ball back to his Bluejays. He tallied 16 points, 4 assists , and 3 steals.

KJ Minter | 6'1 G 2026 Elkton

Minter led the Golden Elks across the Chesapeake City Bridge to face Middletown and brought a lot of firepower. He got going off-ball, flashing into open space for long twos and attacking the second side of the defense. His ability to play through contact also showed up on the glass and on defense. Then in the fourth quarter, with the Cavaliers surging, Minter went off. He knocked down another middy, got loose for a pair of threes and got to the free throw line for 14 points in that stretch. He finished with a game-high 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2386202' first='Jaelen' last='Murphy'] | 6'2 G 2027 Middletown

When the Cavaliers hosted Elkton, Murphy's athleticism shined off-ball as a help defender and slasher. He was effective around the nail, digging at the ball when someone drove into his gap and deflected passes that came his way. Without the ball on offense, he exploited the defense by cutting into the paint and diving to the rim for layups. Murphy generated scoring opportunities of his own with offensive rebounds as well, finishing with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2352452' first='Josh' last='Obiora'] | 6'7 W/F 2025 St. Georges

In a matchup against Seaford that featured several elite athletes, Obiora proved to be the most dominant one. He altered the geometry in the Hawks press defense and on the glass with how he applied his wingspan and leaping ability. Turning up his aggression after halftime, his deflections became steals and his hustle on defense turned into points in transition. Instead of looking to swing or kick when he caught the ball in the post, Obiora found angles to finish off the glass or just power home dunks with two hands. He scored 18 of his 21 in the second half, plus chipped in a modest 11 boards, 3 assists, 4 steals, and a block. Shortly after the game, Obiora also picked up an offer from Wagner.

[player_tooltip player_id='2371040' first='Michael' last='Sheehan'] | 6'1 G 2026 Caravel

Sheehan let it rain from three when the Buccaneers went into the Eagles' nest to beat Smyrna. He did his work early, moving around off-ball to drain three trey-balls in the first half. The Bucs senior guard also attacked off the catch for a couple two-pointers. He cashed another triple in the third, then helped close out the game on defense, on the boards and at the line. Sheehan went 7-for-8 there to total 23 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block.

[player_tooltip player_id='2573852' first='Chase' last='Sullivan'] | 6'2 G 2026 Smyrna

Sullivan put a ton of pressure on the rim at home versus Caravel. Using his burst and strength, he blew by multiple defenders at a time on his way to the cup. And when necessary, he slowed the pace down to move defenders out of the way (post ups) or played off of two feet to maneuver around them. Sullivan cranked up the intensity even more at the start of the third, touching the paint as a threat to score and/or facilitate. He added a couple threes to lead both teams with 26 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assist, and 3 steals
