Every single year we have a bevy of stars shine super bright in North Carolina. The amount of talent and coverage that talent gets is something not a lot of states can lay claim to. With that said, there are a lot of guys that are true stars within their programs or roles that don't get enough light shed on what they're doing. Let's take a deeper look at a few of those guys.

Gatling has turned himself into one of the better PG's in NC's 2027 class due to his high level and consistent play between the high school and travel ball seasons. Gatling is averaging 22.1 PPG to go with 5.6 APG and 1.8 SPG. Gatling has the ability to take a game over with his own offense or pick a team apart with his passing. With [program_tooltip program_id='2375668' first='SW15H' last='Elite'], he helped lead them to a UA Rise 16u Championship where he was a reliable end of shot clock creator along with running the show at a high level. Gatling's ability to fit in amongst other talent while also being able to take over the game with his own offense makes him a really appealing backcourt option in NC's 2027 class.

King has reclassified to 2027 and is looking like a really key piece on this Ambassador Christian team. King is a strong downhill driver with the left hand where he does a great job accelerating around defenders for easy baskets. King is also a confident shooter off the catch where he's been a consistent threat this season. King has proven to be one of this groups most reliable and consistent guys. He's a guy that really takes pride in the way he defends the point of attack, giving them a really high quality perimeter defender. Expect King to slide into a nice spot in those 2027 rankings in January.

Another guy that is getting the job done on a team with real state championship expectations. Wright-McGee has grown to about 6'2" now and continuing to make real strides in his game at New Hanover. His ability to make plays off the bounce is legit, he's averaging 13.6 Points per game through 7 games on the year. He's also averaging 4.9 Assists, 4.0 Rebounds, and 2.4 Steals per game. He's taken a considerable step in role, each season at New Hanover while being ready for the challenge each and every time. Expect his progression to continue and Wright-McGee to help New Hanover on what should be another lengthy playoff run.

From unranked to top 15? It's really in the cards for [player_tooltip player_id='2907187' first='Nylan' last='Rush'] who is having what can only be described as a special season for 10-1 Leesville Road. Rush is a dynamic shot maker with deep off the bounce range and a ton of confidence. He has a slick handle with the ability to embarrass defenders. All of that in a legit 6'4" frame and truly emerging athleticism. Rush just had a 33 point performance in a win vs Millbrook, yet another big performance for the junior that will undoubtedly be one of the biggest risers in the next rankings update. His recruitment should take off, he appears to be a legit division one talent.

Smith is a versatile forward at Salisbury High School who is off to an impressive 5-2 start this season. Smith is a classic low maintenance high productivity guy that coaches love to have on their roster. He's off to a impressive start individually as well, putting up great numbers as he holds a much more important role this season. Smith is averaging 10.9 Points to go with 8.7 rebounds including two double doubles through 7 games. Defensively is where you really see the value that Smith provides. He's averaging 3.1 blocks and 2.0 steals per game, the blocks number ranks him among the top 70 nationally in that category on MaxPreps. Smith is an emerging two way wing talent in NC that should continue to garner more attention throughout the rest of this season.
