Smith is an important new name to monitor at Salisbury High School. He initially showed me a lot of promise the first time I saw him last spring playing for the Carolina Riptide . A springy and active undersized 4 man with the ability to switch out and be a true menace all over the floor defensively. Smith provides a ton of help on the glass for his team, he even had a 17 rebound game in the playoffs this season. He recently helped his Salisbury team secure a State Championship with a win over Reidsville last night. Smith is one of the higher upside guys ranked outside of the top 50 and is looking like a full scholarship level player. It’s very likely he rises as his production is simply undeniable. If Smith can add some outside touch to his game, it could completely transform the way people look at him as a prospect.

Smith has been one of NC’s best rebounders all season while being a versatile contributor all over the court for Salisbury on their campaign to the State Championship. Smith is averaging 11.1 Points, 8.7 Rebounds, 0.9 Assists, 1.5 Steals, and 2.6 Blocks per game. Smith is a super explosive wing forward that uses that athleticism to control the glass. He’s got nice touch around the rim, the ability to finish above it, and is more than capable of exploiting mismatches off the bounce. Smith has the chance to put up a monster stat line if he can control the glass like he did in this final four game. He’s been an incredibly valuable piece to Salisbury this season and should start to get more recruiting attention after this season as we head into the spring/summer.
