One of the biggest matchups in the state on Monday night was a matchup between elite SCISA competition, Ben Lippen and Pinewood Prep. There were elite scorers and intriguing prospects all over the floor, hence the high-scoring final of 75-70. With all the talent on the floor last night, there was one prospect who made a career-high 8 threes, another who put up 30 points and 8 assists, as well as three-more who made an impact closer to the rim and on the defensive end. Check out my five standouts from Ben Lippen's win over Pinewood Prep:

[player_tooltip player_id='3067621' first='DJ' last='Slaughter'] was scorching hot from three in Ben Lippen's win over Pinewood Prep. The 2028 big man put up 29 points on 8 3PM, punishing the Panthers almost every time they left him open for three. Slaughter looks to pop after most screens, either to the three-point line or in the pocket to the mid-range, but when he does roll, he is just as capable of finding an open teammate as the defense rotates to him. You can't speak highly enough about DJ and what his shooting can mean to this Ben Lippen offense this year, but if he grows to 6'7" or higher, the college coaches will come knocking fast.

Braysen might not have been at his very best on Monday night, but he is one of the only players in the state who can go for 30 points and 8 assists on an "off night". Pinewood Prep brought two to the ball on every Stockman screen, which freed up tons of space for Braysen to simplify the game and be a passer. 22 of his 30 points in the second half, and it really felt like he flipped the scoring switch after hitting a logo three midway through the third quarter. Stockman is more than comfortable scoring off the dribble, but there will also be times when the offense isn't run through him and he can work off the catch.

The third leading scorer of the night for Ben Lippen was Maddox, but he also did other things to fill up the box score and went for 9 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Stockman was very important on the defensive end of the floor, using his fast foot speed to contain the ball while also staying active off the ball for help-side stocks. Like his brother, Maddox was also shown heavy coverages when operating the pick-and-roll, and he was just as productive in finding Slaughter and other shooters for open looks.

Parris is another guy who put up big numbers on the stat sheet. He tallied 13 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block in the loss, but was crucial to everything good for the Panthers in this one. Kais was huge on the glass, creating second chances on offense and limiting them on defense. He also showed a good feel for playing in the holes of the zone, hitting a couple of turnaround jumpers or finding his big man for layups on the block.

Rounding out my list of standouts from Pinewood Prep's trip to Ben Lippen on Monday night is [player_tooltip player_id='1692411' first='Tripp' last='Eidson']. He might not fit in with some of the others on the list when it comes to shooting, but he was excellent in the game and posed a matchup weakness for the Falcons. Tripp was dominant on the offensive glass, including a stretch where he scored six straight second-chance points as Pinewood Prep grabbed an early lead. Eidson can also work quickly when facing up around the rim with a size advantage. Despite the loss, Tripp finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds against the Falcons.
