LA VERNE — The ninth annual Classic at Damien is one of the nation's premier post-holiday high school basketball tournaments. The 2025 edition features 144 teams from five states spread across nine divisions and includes many of the country's top prospects. We were in attendance for the first two days at Damien High and below are the top scorers at the guard position we saw among Platinum Division participants.

Caplan can really fill it up from the perimeter when he has his jump shot dialed in. The 6-foot-2 combo guard can knock down three-point shots off the catch and off the bounce. Caplan has shown a lot of improvement and confidence in getting into the lane and finishing with a crafty layup. The junior scored 20 points in a first round win over Owyhee.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194692' first='Isaiah' last='Barnes'] | 2027 | Crespi

When you talk about efficient performances from a guard, Barnes 28 point performance in a first round win over Layton Christian Friday fit that description. The 6-foot-3 combo guard went 9-for-14 from the field, 2-for-4 from three and 8-for-11 from the free throw line to help Crespi advance to the quarterfinals. Barnes is a high motor and aggressive attacker of the rim who uses his frame and toughness to his advantage when finishing around the basket.

McKae Amundsen | 2026 | Clovis North

Clovis North's fast-paced and free-flowing offense is designed to score a lot of points and Amundsen is usually the key figure behind that strategy. The 5-foot-8 point guard is always in attack mode and looking to score - especially from three-point range - and had 35 points in a consolation loss to Parish Episcopal and 21 points in a first round loss to Redondo Union. That 35-point performance included a 7-for-14 mark from the three-point line and 10-for-14 from the free throw line.

[player_tooltip player_id='1697292' first='Rylan' last='Parsley'] | 2026 | O'Connor (AZ)

Parsley quickly established himself as one of the best shooters in the tournament and left many evaluators and college coaches wondering how he is still an unsigned prospect in the senior class. The long, wiry and fluid 6-foot-6 shooting guard is a consistent and confident shooter off the catch with multiple spot and multiple range ability. Parsley had 21 points in a quarterfinal loss to Crean Lutheran and 27 points in a first round win over Corona Centennial and went 8-for-14 from three in those two games.

[player_tooltip player_id='2436261' first='Sloane' last='Harris'] | 2027 | Roosevelt

Harris went right to work after missing the first month and change of the season due to the CIF transfer sit out period. The 6-foot-2 junior is relentless off the dribble where he uses his combination of speed, strength and physicality to power through defenders and to the rim where he seeks out and scores through contact. Harris also knocked down a couple of three-point and mid-range jumpers en route to his 26 points in a consolation win over American Fork

Zaire Rasshan | 2027 | Damien

The Damien offensive system always produces a couple of big time scorers and Rasshan is one of those guys this season. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard is nearly automatic in off-catch situations and his off-ball movement and ability to come off of screens and get into his fluid shooting mechanics in one motion which is coupled with his high, quick release. Rasshan had 25 points in a first round win over Parish Episcopal, including 6-for-11 from three-point range.
