A massive win for PG Elite as they got up 23 points in the first half and held on to win in an exciting battle. While Barnes twin brother had a big second quarter to help build the 20+ point lead, it was Isaiah who hit back-to-back 3-pointers to ensure PG Elite wouldn’t sacrifice the lead and hold on to the win. A prospect I’ve been high on for a while, Barnes was first nationally ranked on Prep Hoops and continues to show why we have so much confidence in his ability.

Barnes is fresh off a dominant performance at the Americup 18 U tournament where he finished second in scoring and steals. On the EYBL circuit, Barnes is scoring almost 15 PPG shooting above 50% on 2-pointers and just under 40% from beyond the arc. PG Elite is having a strong season as they currently sit 8-3 overall and 6-2 in games Barnes has played in. Expect to hear more about Barnes this summer as he should easily debut in other national rankings lists during the next update.

Barnes is a crafty and skilled player that has a high basketball IQ, understands how to change the pace of play to get the defense off balance, and has a smooth jumper that extends to the 3-point line. The 6-foot-3 combo guard keeps the dribble alive to surrey the floor, uses the crossover and hesitation to get by his initial defender, has the court vision to make quality reads off the drive and kick pass to open teammates, and is effective with the mid-range shot, where he has the footwork and body control to hit the spin-fade jumper, as well as the standard pull-up jumper with consistency. Barnes plays with good pace and change of speed, looks to attack the defense to keep the opposition guessing, can space the floor with the 3-ball, and has the strength and agility to finish at the basket through contact with the up and under or reverse lay-ups. Barnes finished with 14 points and 4 assists in a loss to Santa Margarita.
