The Hoop Season Starts on Monday and I have been asked about doing some regional rankings for Teams. I am not sure if this will be something that I do weekly, but I am definitely excited about dropping some gems for conversation and motivation. Here is my list of Top Teams in the New Orleans Metro area.

Northshore is a tough team led by [player_tooltip player_id='1639715' first='Michael' last='Ducre'], a 6'3" senior guard who has earned significant recognition heading into his senior season. Additionally, [player_tooltip player_id='2919651' first='Tyrie' last='Spencer'] caught my attention at a PUMA event and a PrepHoops Showcase, earning him a Showcase MVP nod. They are a tough team with great chemistry and could be the best team in the New Orleans Metro Area. They will be a problem in the 5A Classification and could provide some resistance to Ruston and Zachary as the teams to beat.

St. Augustine is the defending Division I Select Champion and looks like they will be led by [player_tooltip player_id='2443431' first='Abram' last='Taylor'] on offense and [player_tooltip player_id='2700512' first='Aaron' last='Miles'] on defense. After watching them play a couple of weeks ago and speaking with scouts from down south, there is a lot to be excited about with this group. Discipline will be key for this team, as they are loaded with playmakers and also have the pedigree and winning culture that always finds them in the championship conversation.

Edna Karr will be known for more than football this season with the return of a solid 2027 class led by 6'1" PG Delvin Jordan. They are primed to make some noise on the basketball front, and they can do it in more than one way. Be on the lookout for some big games this season from one of the top teams in the New Orleans Metro Area.

Archbishop Shaw was a state finalist last year and brings in HC Mitchell Johnson, who is known around the state for his coaching style and winning ways. He brings a championship culture to a talented program led by Top 5 2027 talent, [player_tooltip player_id='2471566' first='Triston' last='Naquin'], and anchored by a talented trio of guards that includes the Shaw Brothers, whose father saw fit to give them the same name. Truth is, their game is the same: tough, skilled, and in your face. [player_tooltip player_id='2194600' first='Christian' last='Clair'] is arguably the best true point guard in the class of 2028, and after watching freshman Phanuel Greer at a showcase, he could be an impact player as a freshman.

Booker T. Washington is a young and talented team led by a pair of sophomores, [player_tooltip player_id='2894826' first='Na'az' last='Bell'], a 6'8" forward, and Bryson Miles, a 6'5" guard. The potential for these two players and the BTW squad is endless, and the basketball world is extremely excited about this duo. Naaz jumped in the most recent rankings and shot straight to the top 10 based on some summer performances and exposure camp production. Loaded with talent and potential, I can see them making some noise as a top metro New Orleans team.

Country Day is a team that is constantly in the conversation as one of the top teams, not just for their performance, but because of their potential. They are not only talented, but they are also young and have senior leadership to help shape their younger players. [player_tooltip player_id='2471563' first='Kellen' last='Brewer'], [player_tooltip player_id='2894761' first='Hermon' last='Dyson'], [player_tooltip player_id='2532085' first='Chase' last='Knight'], Rhys Diley, and senior sniper Brennan White are all skilled players who are elite in their team roles. Even without a traditional big on their team, they can win games, and Dyson is the anchor of it all on both sides of the ball.
