Myrtle Chaffin Classic Top Performers Class of 2026-2027

The Myrtle Chaffin Classic showcased a solid day of high-level basketball competition, featuring two intense matchups that kept fans on the edge of their seats. In the opening game, Mt. Zion Prep delivered a commanding performance to secure an 83-59 victory over Phelps Prep School. The excitement continued into the second game, where Bethel Academy overcame a resilient Terror Prep squad—who competed with just five players—to clinch an 84-66 win. The event highlighted both the skill and determination of these talented teams, making for an unforgettable day of hoops action. Here's look at some of the top performers on Sunday.    Strong inside presence. Scores with physicality and finesse. Doesn't mind the bump/grim of the paint game. Continue to play big on both ends of the floor. Love his approach to the game. Pure scorer with a killer instinct on offense and a high basketball IQ. Reads defenders with ease, able to score at will while keeping teammates involved. Passionate, high-energy player with a contagious presence that elevates his team. Length and versatility allow him to guard multiple positions, while his athleticism enables him to play above the rim on both ends of the floor. Finish the game against the Phelps School with 14 points and 6 rebounds.     Smooth effortless guard who scores with ease and fluidity, capable of finishing in a variety of ways, including through contact. Fearless on offense, always attacking the rim and creating his own shot, while also a knockdown shooter. Lengthy, quick, and dynamic, with the ability to anticipate plays on both ends of the floor, making him a constant impact player. Extremely coachable, with a mentality. Moves extremely well without the ball. Smooth stroke coming off picks/screens/passes. Michael is a legit 3pt shot maker. Ability to put the ball on the floor and make plays for self and teammates are impactful. Smooth change of direction with the ball as well. Finish the game with 13 points and 3 assists.     High-IQ point guard with strength and control on the ball. Can finish effortlessly over bigger defenders and lights out from beyond the arc. Makes teammates better with his playmaking and court vision. A defensive menace who applies 94-foot pressure, disrupting opponent rhythm. Hardworking, consistent, and impactful on both ends of the floor. Devin finish the game against the Terror Prep scoring 16 points.     The 7-Footer continue to improve in his all-around play. Favour's footwork and ability to put the ball on the floor from the free throw line make one dribble and finish at the rim. Also showed the ability to step out comfortably and hit the 15-foot jumper…Favour continues to show his agility getting up/down the floor, hitting the boards on both ends and anchoring in the paint contested and blocking shots at a high rate and make plays off the dribble. Also showed a soft touch with the turnaround jumper in the lane over either shoulder. With maturity look for Favour to be a solid contributor in college with strength and aggressiveness. Finish the game against Phelps School with 8 points and 10 rebounds.     Vallis may have had the shooting performance of the weekend, going off for 30 points knocking down six threes against Bethal Academy. At 6'6”, he has solid size for a shooting guard and effectively uses space to get shots off in various ways. Karlis defends multiple positions, has a quick release, can score off the dribble, handles contact well, and plays smoothly. Karlis shot the ball well with a lot of confidence, getting to his spots and showcasing a smooth overall release with range. He took what was given to him from the perimeter but also showed tremendous IQ and awareness with his shot-fakes to attack off the bounce. Look for Vallis to start trending upward this season. He is most definitely college level prospect.     Big guard-forward. Played the point the whole game. And he didn't look out of place at all. Vlad possesses a strong frame. Handle the bump and on the ball pressure well. Solid handle wasn't fancy he just got the job done getting his team into their half-court sets. Big shoulders which he used to carve out space to score in the lane. Finished the game with 21 points and had at least 5 assists in the game. Vlad craftiness/ball handler/passing was deceptive and decisive. Stroked the 3 when he was given room. Vlad no-nonsense approach served him well and showed a competitive nature about him. Smooth and fluid with the ball, spreading defenses with a reliable outside shot while finishing creatively at the rim. Bought a disruptive length on defense with the versatility to guard multiple positions. Plays with high energy and impact on both ends, making him a constant mismatch and difference-maker.     Lightning-quick lefty guard with elite craftiness and the ability to finish in unreal ways around the rim. Skilled at attacking bigger defenders and consistently finding his spots on the floor. Plays with relentless energy and a high motor, bringing toughness and grit every possession. On defense, his scrappiness and hustle create constant problems, rattling opponents and sparking momentum for his team. Scored 16 points in the game against the Terror Prep team.
