The Knights went 15-14 last season but have a star in [player_tooltip player_id='2317753' first='Dwayne' last='Lawton'] who transfers in from South Gwinnett. The explosive three-level scorer is joined by former Comet teammates 6-foot-6 Mouhamadou Diop in storming the castle. Central Gwinnett has four of their top five scorers back, all seniors in Josiah Hall (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg), Denovian Flowers (11.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.7 apg), [player_tooltip player_id='1981325' first='Brayden' last='Holiday'] (9.1 ppg) and Isiah Sloan (4.6 ppg). The Knights will try to continue to close the gap behind Buford, losing to the Wolves three times last season but their closest meeting coming in the region tournament, 69-65.

Lowndes posted a 19-10 record, bounced in the First Round by Cherokee after winning the Region 1 title. The interior play of the Vikings sticks out between [player_tooltip player_id='2900392' first='Kaiden' last='Brown'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2900402' first='Kaden' last='Martin']. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2829837' first='Dallas' last='Montgomery'] is improving, a big guard who saw plenty of high-level reps over the travel ball circuit. While the Vikings graduate their top two scorers, options 3-8 are back, five of them now seniors. Adding 6-foot-3 sophomore Artavian Brown from Florida State University is a major boon. The football standout also holds D-I offers for basketball by way of Auburn, Missouri and Troy.

The state runner-up looks much different this season, losing a ton to graduation and transfer. Move-ins [player_tooltip player_id='1696241' first='Jayden' last='Scott'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2879787' first='Jared' last='White'] will play big roles in the backcourt, Scott a quick playmaker and White a big guard that can find hoops from all spots on the floor. TJ Sands and 6-foot-10 center Cayden Young will have expanded roles for a team that lost nine players from last year's varsity roster.
