The Coronado Classic was full of great teams and players getting ready for the high school season to start. Offense was the main attraction, but defense stole the show. These players made sure the other team had a hard time running their offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='3044957' first='Brayden' last='Hamilton'] stood out for how he prides himself on the defensive end of the court. Brayden took on all challenges that came his way during the tournament. His on-ball defense is very strong due to his ability to keep players in front of him. Due to his strong frame, he doesn't allow the ball handlers to get by him easily. Brayden does just as well off the ball, always in position to help his team if they happen to get blown by. His off-ball positioning allows him to get in passing lanes and disrupt what the opposing team is trying to do. Cleveland has a good defender in Brayden, and he looks ready for the season to start.

[player_tooltip player_id='2175829' first='Dylan' last='Lansing'] of Navajo Prep was a spark plug for his team on the defensive end of the court. Dylan is a senior this coming season and it showed with his patience and leadership on the court. He always seemed to be positioned in the right place defensively. In the championship game he played against a strong offensive team and did not back down from the challenge. He made sure when he was on the court his match up had a hard time getting shots off. His motor was on display all game which made it easy for his teammates to score in transition. Dylan's leadership and motor will help Navajo Prep this coming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2980447' first='Malachi' last='Knox'] is ready for the upcoming season. He had a strong summer offensively which caught people's attention in the gyms he played. Malachi is very athletic and can shut other players down given the opportunity. When we think of Malachi, we think of his highlight drives to the basket but this weekend we were able to see blocks and steals as well. His intensity this weekend on the defensive end impacted his team tremendously in a positive way. They were all shutting players down and off in transition. His athleticism allows him to go up and block shots with ease. Once Malachi makes a steal he can either beat players down the court or use his vision to involve his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='2893173' first='Micah' last='Nitafan'] was a standout this weekend both offensively and defensively. He helped his team to a championship in the 9th/JV boys division. All weekend he displayed why he is a player on the rise. Team defense and fastbreaks were on display all weekend. The fastbreaks came early and often when Micah and [player_tooltip player_id='2892400' first='Jashon' last='Morinia'] were on the court. They complimented each other very well on the defensive end of the court. As a combo guard Micah has the ability to guard the opposing teams point guard or shooting guard.
