Preseason Player of the Year: 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765541' first='Conley' last='Schauf'] (Monticello)

This division is loaded with returning talent, and Monticello, Beckman, and Northeast should all battle it out throughout the year for the crown. In terms of POY honors, we'll side with Schauf, the high-scoring, efficient wing from Monticello who can do a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor. This will be one of the most hotly contested POY races in the state.

First Team

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765541' first='Conley' last='Schauf'] (Monticello): 21.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.5 steals, 50.2 FG%, 43.4 3P%, 85.0 FT%

Schauf makes everything look smooth and effortless on the offensive end, moving well without the ball and knocking down shots routinely off the catch while also showcasing plenty of ability to play with the ball in his hands and create shots for himself and his teammates. He's a high IQ wing who impacts the game in a major way on both ends of the floor.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2413548' first='Nolan' last='Ehlinger'] (Maquoketa): 21.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.5 steals

Ehlinger is the leading returning scorer in the division after putting up nearly 22 points per game last season for the Cardinals. A high-scoring, quick guard who is at his best when he's playing downhill and attacking the rim, he does a great job utilizing his speed to his advantage on both ends of the floor.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2419787' first='Jake' last='Wegmann'] (Beckman Catholic): 19.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.0 steals, 1.9 blocks, 45.0 3P%

Wegmann had a growth spurt between his freshman and sophomore years, and he used that added size to his full advantage, bullying smaller defenders on the block or shooting over them from deep. He's an efficient scorer who can fill it up from anywhere on the floor, and he really showcased his defensive versatility last season, averaging nearly four stocks per game.

2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2523908' first='Jaxen' last='Christiansen'] (Northeast): 15.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.3 steals, 42.3 3P%, 88.4 FT%

Christiansen was one of the most productive freshmen in the state last season, averaging nearly 16 points a game for the Rebels and doing so with pretty strong efficiency numbers. He's a smooth all-around offensive weapon who can play with or without the ball in his hands.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1978108' first='Mick' last='Hoffman'] (Cascade): 15.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, 39.5 3P%, 78.5 FT%

Hoffman was a great second option alongside Jackson Lieurance last season for the Cougars, and he'll be the star as a senior. He's a high-level shooter who can space the floor as an off-ball shooter, but he can also create off the dribble.
