The 2025 South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Elite Camp was held on Sunday, October 5th, in North Charleston, South Carolina. It featured 150 of the best players in the South Carolina High School League competing in skill-development sessions and 5-on-5 games. An event like this is a great chance to find some new names for the database, and these six prospects are intriguing ones to monitor in the future. Check them out:

[player_tooltip player_id='2982762' first='Jaden' last='Ray'] (Darlington) - Headlining my new names to monitor from the 2025 SCBCA Elite Camp is [player_tooltip player_id='2982762' first='Jaden' last='Ray']. Ray is a big, 6'8" post prospect who impressed in the 5v5 portion of the event. Jaden displayed some soft touch on push shots, mid-range jumpers, and free throws. He was active as a screener and a rebounder, creating space for his guards to work and keeping the ball up and away from smaller defenders. Keep an eye on this new name to have a breakout campaign for the Darlington Falcons.

[player_tooltip player_id='2982773' first='Aaron' last='Montgomery'] (Lee Central) - Montgomery is the lone 2026 in this list, leaving a good first impression on me going into his Senior Season. He was a standout in the skills section of camp, particularly in 1v1 situations. When attacking the rim, Aaron will play off two feet and has a low center of gravity, a combination that allows him to play through contact and make late reads to punish defenses.

[player_tooltip player_id='2888079' first='Herman' last='Smith'] (Stratford) - Herman is definitely one to watch heading into a crucial Junior Year. He is the Knights' top returning scorer, after putting up 10.8 Points Per Game in 2024-25. Smith was a nice two-way player for Team 12, making plays on ball and preventing the same on the other end. He showcased his feel around bodies in the paint and ability to read defenses while setting up teammates, while also adding lots of defensive intensity, which stands out in a camp setting.

[player_tooltip player_id='2982764' first='Christian' last='Jones'] (Clinton) - Jones was a big-time plus in Sunday's skill work. He looked quick off the first step, frequently beating his man and getting into the paint. Once there, the positives didn't stop. Christian was strong and explosive off two feet, finished high above small Guards, and was patient to score against bigs. The Red Devils lost a few key members of the 2025 class last year, so look for Jones to step into a big role as a Sophomore.

[player_tooltip player_id='2982767' first='Kohl' last='Peterson'] (Rock Hill) - Another new 2028 that caught my eye in North Charleston is Kohl. He had a few good moments with the ball in his hands for his 5v5 team, showing off an excellent handle and ability to hit tough shots off the dribble. Peterson often orchestrated some pick-and-roll action, keeping defenders off balance with pocket passing, skip passing, pull-up shooting, and quick moves to the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2982771' first='Christian' last='Belton'] (Camden) - Rounding out the new names to monitor is the lone Freshman in this list, [player_tooltip player_id='2982771' first='Christian' last='Belton']. Belton has an impressive frame for his young age, listed at 6'1" with a plus wingspan. This allowed him to play on and off-ball, affect ball handlers and shooters on defense, and see over or shoot over opponents on the other end. Christian's mid-range scoring is an intriguing part of his game, as he already gets to his spots and connects at an efficient rate.
