The 6-foot-5 forward was the best passer on the floor for the Thunder and was absolutely carving the defense up with his vision. He also knocked down some outside shots and made some really controlled, patient moves to the rim. I'm not sure whether Janvrin is still growing, but he has an awesome skill set for his size and age and looks like he'll probably continue to put on weight and strength, which would really help his recruitment moving forward. He'll be a really solid player for Windham HS this season.

Dargon mans the paint for the Magic and does a really good job fighting for rebounds on both ends. The 6-foot-4 forward is phenomenal at high-pointing the ball and his timing is impeccable – he was consistently getting rebounds against bigger guys because of his balance, toughness and timing. Offensively, he was effective using footwork in the paint to get to both lefty and righty finishes, and I like the looks of his outside shot. He should be a key player for Belmont High School this year and is a prime reclass candidate moving forward. Keep an eye on Dargon.

Varano is undersized, but he does what you need from a short guard to stay on the court. The 5-foot-10 floor general is super under control with his handle and is impossible to take the ball from in the backcourt. In the half court, he has a really nice dribble pull up game and can also hit shots from three, but he spends most of his time puncturing the paint and kicking out to shooters. The Needham High School junior should get serious minutes this upcoming season and will have a chance to play D3 hoops if he can continue getting stronger and more athletic.

Lyons is incredibly effective as a downhill attacker. Sometimes he can play with it a bit too much on the offensive end, but when he commits to driving to the hoop without any wasted dribbles, the southpaw is very difficult to stop. Once he gets into the paint, he does a really good job finding kick outs to teammates. If he can improve his three point shot, he could be one of the leading scorers for Newton North this season and should garner some D3 looks as a result.

Reardon erupted this weekend for NE Storm and established himself as one of the better 2027's in attendance at the Hoop Fest. The 6-foot-5 wing showed off an incredibly versatile offensive game that included consistent shooting from both the three and the mid range and a variety of finishes at the rim and from about 6 feet. The St. Paul's school junior is always in control in the paint and does an excellent job getting to two feet and making the right decision. Look for him to get tons of college looks this upcoming year.

On Saturday, September 4th, I attended the NERR Northeast Hoop Festival at Dana Barros Basketball Club in Stoughton, MA. There were tons of talented teams and players there, but I was only able to watch some Saturday morning games and then some short highlights from the afternoon and Sunday games.
