MYT "7th and 8th Grade Boys School Team Short League- Batch 3

This is the final batch of players who really made an impression on me Saturday afternoon.    Jordan is a big-time shooter! Whenever VCP needed a basket, he calmly knocked it down. Jordan is definitely the three-point sniper for his team. I watched him knock down four threes-pointers over the course of the game Saturday afternoon. Overall he showed his prowess as a legit scorer. Jordan has the ability to beat opponents off the dribble, attack the basket and score. I appreciated his level of aggression whenever he was in scoring position. On defense, he was great at playing man-to-man and applying on-ball pressure. Opposing guards had a difficult time making plays while Jordan defended them. After watching Jordan play, I view this young man as a winner. He has a bright future ahead of him.     Jonathen is a skilled point guard. He played his position like a true “floor general.” Jonathen is a excellent passer who had a knack for setting up VCP players for high percentage shots. There was a play in the game, where he made the perfect bounce pass to a teammate streaking down the lane. The pass was on the money and led to an easy lay-up. Jonathen made these type of plays on a regular basis. He finished the game as the team leader in assists. Jonathen showed the ability to beat defenders off the dribble and score in the paint. He's a great shooter from mid-range or beyond the three-point line. I watched him knock down two three-pointers and multiple shots on the perimeter. As he continues to grow and mature, Jonathen has the capability of becoming an elite guard in the future.     Damarvious was a man among boys in the match-up against Franklin Community. This guy was all over the court. Especially on the boards! Whenever he grabbed an offensive rebound, he scored around the rim. Franklin Community had no answers for him on the glass. Damarvious played strong in the paint. He showed his athleticism by attacking the glass and scoring on the missed shots of his teammates. During fast-breaks, Damarvious was able to finish strong at the rim. Defensively, he blocked shots, protected the paint and played great defense on the perimeter. He finished the game with two blocks and a few steals. Damarvious is a hard worker who is the ultimate team player.     This young man was the “hustle guy” for Beech Grove. Souley did a little of everything on the court. He excelled at rebounding on both ends of the floor. Souley attacked the boards with authority, especially on offense. Whenever his teammates missed a shot, he was there to grab the rebound and score. If the team had an opportunity to run fast-breaks, Souley sprinted down the floor and finished strong at the rim. He's a good low post player who knows how to finish though contact. In isolated match-ups he showed the ability to create his own shot by beating defenders off the dribble. Most of his drives to the rim led to either scores or assists to his teammates. Defensively, Souley excelled at being a defensive presence in the paint. He blocked multiple shots and made scoring difficult for the opposing team.     He's a tough little guard who plays the game with a fierce attitude. Devion is a great “floor leader” who always looked to get his teammates involved offensively. The majority of his assists led to positive outcomes for Beech Grove. Devion was fully immersed in his job as a play-maker. He led his team in assists and showed great leadership by being vocal with other Beech Grove players. Don't be fooled by his skills as a passer, this little guy can score too! Devion has the ability to get to the rim, score from mid-range or knock down three-pointers. Overall, he's a pass first point-guard who showed the ability to score whenever he needed. Devion has a chance to reach elite status with growth and maturity.
