Hoop Group Fall High School Showcase Standouts

Last week at Multi Sport Kingdom in Manalapan, NJ the Hoop Group Fall High School Showcase returned for another year and brought together elite high school talent from across all over the state of New Jersey, and several prospects used the platform to make serious noise. With a good mix of already established prospects combined with some under the radar talent, last weekend's action garnered a competitive slate of intense matchups. With that being said, let's dive into a few standout performers from last weekend's games.    [player_tooltip player_id='2504886' first='Malik' last='Moore'] is a lead guard for Union Catholic who lived in the in between area over the course of last weekend's action— knocking down a number of tough, contested mid range pull ups and turn around fade aways. Operating as a ball dominant guard who often times attracts additional defenders, Moore flashed his court vision with a couple of finds he made when he saw help defense, hitting dump offs and spraying out to open shooters with on time and precise passing.     [player_tooltip player_id='2862249' first='Richie' last='Gardner'] showcased a diverse scoring performance that saw him not only convert on a number of different soft touch runners and floaters from different angles in the paint but also flashed his ability to be effective as a spot up shooter from three point distance, with range too. Gardner did a good job of playing off two feet and using step throughs and pump fakes against opposing defenders. Gardner also mixed in some strong finishes at the rim when driving lanes opened up for him in the flow of Bridgewater-Raritan's offense.     Providing a legitimate scoring punch with timely offense for College Achieve, [player_tooltip player_id='2884567' first='Dominic' last='Mauro'] shined in the ways he was able to impact the game both as a perimeter shooter and an additional ball handler. Mauro demonstrated his ability to be a crafty finisher in traffic while also exhibiting his innate ability to knock down smooth perimeter and mid range pull up jumpers. Showcasing his versatility as a three point shooter, Mauro was also just as effective as a spot up shooter. Spending some time handling the basketball, Mauro also flashed his good court vision with a number of reads he made as a decision maker with the ball in his hands.     Erupting for an explosive 30 point performance, [player_tooltip player_id='1859568' first='Shaan' last='Nayar'] showcased his versatile perimeter shot making. Nayar thrived both as a spot up shooter and also tapped into some of his creativity of the bounce, consistently hitting a number of tough threes off the dribble. Nayar also mixed in a few smooth mid range pull ups when defenses ran him off the three point line alongside some strong finishes at the rim in transition. Nayar proved to be a dangerous shot maker as his ability to do so was on full display last weekend.     [player_tooltip player_id='2081040' first='Connor' last='Lee'] shined as a shot maker both as a spot up three point shooter as well as a shooter off the bounce, knocking down some smooth in between area fade away jumpers. Lee proved to be a versatile and consistent shot maker with the open looks he was able to convert on last weekend. Lee also impressed as a passer with good touch, with a number of precise passes he made, particularly spraying out to open shooters and making sharp post entry passes to open bigs down low.     Continuing to shine as a true 3&D threat in every showing, [player_tooltip player_id='1595685' first='Jekhi' last='Burnam'] excelled in his typical role over the course of last weekend's action. Burnam continues to prove to be an excellent spot up shooter, as he knocked down a number of open, in rhythm threes, with deep range as well. Burnam also mixed in a few mid range pull ups when defenses forced him off the three point line alongside some low post finishes when he was matched up against smaller defenders.     Looking more and more comfortable on the ball and looking to prove he's more than just a shooter this upcoming season, [player_tooltip player_id='2568645' first='Austin' last='Kolakowski'] put on a diverse performance last weekend. An overall versatile shot maker, Kolakowski mixed up his scoring attack converting on a number of tough off the dribble threes while also excelling as a spot up shooter off the ball. Kolakowski also proved to be an effective movement shooter, converting on looks that saw him come pin downs. Complementing his three point shooting ability, Kolakowski also mixed in a couple strong rim finishes, even with his off hand too.     The engine behind Elizabeth's offensive success, [player_tooltip player_id='2201953' first='Jayden' last='Johnson'] demonstrated his smooth scoring prowess, playing with good pace and excellent body control. Extremely creative off the dribble, Johnson used different change of direction moves and hesitation dribbles to break his defender down, getting to the rim and finishing with craftiness while also mixing in smooth pull up jumpers in the mid range area and from three point range.
