Area Rankings: Top 10 2027 Prospects in the CR/IC Metro

A quick guard with great handles, Washpun is able to create his own shot about as well as anyone in the state. He's especially dangerous in the mid-range, where he can stop on a dime and elevate into his jumper. As he continues to extend his range with some consistency out to the 3-point line, he'll only become a more dangerous offensive weapon. He averaged 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game as a sophomore for the Lightning on 47-27-63 shooting.     Prairie's 2027 class is loaded, as you'll see on this list, led by Alexander. Alexander is a long, lanky wing who can really create quality looks for himself and his teammates off the dribble. His length is a major asset on both ends of the floor, using it to provide versatility on the defensive end by getting into passing lanes or contesting shots. Offensively, he sees the floor really well and is a talented passer who likes to get his teammates involved. He averaged 8.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game as a sophomore.     Larson may be the player in Prairie's 2027 class with the highest upside. He's still pretty raw, but has really good size and a rapidly developing skill set with the ability to score inside and out. He has good footwork and soft touch around the rim, and he can step out and stretch the floor with a smooth release from the 3-point line. As he continues to bulk up, he'll only continue to become a more intimidating presence in the paint on both ends of the floor. He averaged 6.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore.     Joens led the Hawks in scoring last season, putting up 11.9 points per game on 47-42-88 shooting splits. He's a fantastic perimeter shooter with a quick release off both the dribble and the catch and range well beyond the high school line. In addition to being a high-level shooter, he's also a talented passer and playmaker, dishing out 3.2 assists per game.     Coates may be one of the highest upside players in the 2027 class around the state. A big man with great size and the ability to protect the rim at a high level, he turned away 2.2 shots per game as a sophomore and alters opposing game plans with his athleticism and length in the paint. He's a mobile, active big man who runs the floor well and can switch defensively. If he continues to add to his offensive skill set, watch out. He averaged 7.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game on 53% shooting last season.     Bean had a nice sophomore year for a Kennedy team that was one of the best in 4A last season, averaging 5.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game on 43-39-65 shooting splits. He's a physical lead guard who isn't afraid to take smaller defenders onto the block and score or find open teammates, allowing Kennedy to invert the offense. Following the graduations of the Cougars' top three scorers, he'll have a much larger role within the offense as a junior.     Another high upside big man from Marion, Ritze is an agile big man who runs the floor, finishes at the rim, and can protect the paint. He didn't get varsity run as a sophomore for the Lions as they were loaded with senior talent last year, but he should become an impactful player as a junior for Linn-Mar.     A quick, intelligent guard with a great feel for the game and an innate sense for making the right pass, Rains has great vision, plays with pace, and can score at the rim or from distance. He got good minutes for the Lions as a sophomore and will use that valuable experience to become one of the top options as a junior. He averaged 4.0 points and 1.0 assists on 47-42 splits last season.     Randall is an intriguing young wing prospect with great size and length at 6-4/6-5. He shot it really well from the arc as a sophomore, burying 38.5% of his 3-point attempts. He shoots it at a high level off both the dribble and the catch, moving well without the ball in his hands. He averaged 9.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.0 steals per game on 48-38-56 shooting splits as a sophomore.     Wallace's future is on the gridiron, but he's a really impactful two-way basketball player as well for the Regals. A plus-athlete with size, toughness, and physicality, he averaged 16.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game on 58% shooting as a sophomore. He's a bouncy, physical player who can defend multiple positions, score around the rim, and create plays for his teammates out of the mid-and-high post areas.
