The 2025 Prep Hoops Carolinas Freshman Showcase and Top 250 Expo were held in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on Saturday. This is one of the best days of the year because there were over 150 of the best prospects from North Carolina and South Carolina competing under one roof. Take a look at my Top 250 Expo Team 12 Evaluations:

#820 [player_tooltip player_id='2426188' first='Marcus' last='Johnson'] (Dreher) - Leading off the Team 12 Evaluations is [player_tooltip player_id='2426188' first='Marcus' last='Johnson']. Johnson is a prospect whom I always enjoy watching because of his ability to be a true PG. He ran some good pick-and-roll actions, found shooters on drives, and was scrappy on defense.

#850 [player_tooltip player_id='2630796' first='Jonah' last='McSwain'] (Gaffney) - Jonah is one of the premier perimeter shooters in the 2027 Class and one of the best at The Expo. McSwain knocked down a few threes in 3v3 and got hot as the 5v5 games went on, while also making a few impressive passes that showcased his playmaking ability.

#853 [player_tooltip player_id='1931197' first='Josh' last='Gamble'] (Wilson) - Gamble was a late add to Team 12, but one that made a noticeable impact. Josh had a few rare mid-range misses while I was watching, but made up for it with strong hands on the defensive end. He also had a nice left-handed layup and spot-up right-corner three.

#859 [player_tooltip player_id='2175531' first='Cameron' last='Gary'] (Lugoff-Elgin) - Cameron has been a regular at the Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo in the past and had another nice showing this year. Gary caught my eye with his ability to play off two feet, finish around bodies at the rim, and disrupt opposing ball-handlers.

#924 [player_tooltip player_id='2816326' first='Preston' last='Heffner'] (Catawba Ridge) - Heffner has earned a spot in the upcoming 2028 Rankings Update after a strong summer and a good performance at our showcase. Preston is an aggressive player who looks to use his length to capitalize in transition and finish near the rim.

#932 [player_tooltip player_id='2684279' first='Joseph' last='Owusu-Mensah'] (Northwestern) - Joseph held down the paint for his team on multiple occasions. He is a very impactful defender around the rim because he can both block shots and draw charges. Owusu-Mensah also ran the floor well in transition for easy scores.

#939 [player_tooltip player_id='2915404' first='Ellington' last='Wall'] (Stanly Early College) - Rounding out my evaluations of Team 12 is the lone North Carolina prospect of this group, [player_tooltip player_id='2915404' first='Ellington' last='Wall']. Wall is a 6'4" 2028 Wing who has very impressive physicals and athleticism. He was productive with active hands and mid-range shooting at The Expo.
