We hosted the Sophomore ID Camp at Gold Crown on September 7th, bringing together over 140 players from across the state to compete and showcase their abilities. The energy in the gym was high, with plenty of talent on display and several prospects making their mark. Here's a look at the sophomores from Team 7 who stood out during the event.

Banister showed two-way versatility, defending bigger players while also handling primary ball-handling duties. He slashed to the rim, hit floaters, and knocked down perimeter shots. His communication on defense and ability to run the floor gave his team balance. Remaining aggressive offensively will be key as his skillset makes him a tough, versatile guard to game plan against. Liked what he showed at the event.

Ayon looked like one of the best pure point guards at the event. He attacked downhill, controlled iso situations, and thrived in pick-and-roll. He made the extra pass, showed strong vision, and knocked down shots, including threes. He was a major standout in both 3 on 3 and really got going in 5 on 5 as the player the ball found and teammates looked to to keep them in games. He's confident, poised, and electric with the ball in his hands. Ayon turned heads as a guard with a complete offensive package and a player to keep an eye on moving forward.

Sermons was a player we did not know much about heading into the event but he made his name known quickly as he stood out throughout the entire day. What I like about him is that he played at his own pace as a steady primary ball handler. He created off the dribble, scored in spurts, and showed patience reading defenses. Defensively, he communicated and competed. Sermons had multiple stretches where he was nearly unguardable as he kept scoring on different switches. Sermons' ability to control tempo and generate offense makes him a guard who can take over games and a player that we are excited to see more of. Very solid showing at the event and a player that is firmly on the radar.

Dereje's effort stood out. He moved without the ball, set hard screens, crashed the glass, and did the little things that help teams win. In showcase settings where flash often takes over, Dereje's activity and willingness to embrace a role separated him. His hustle and attention to detail gave his team extra possessions and momentum.

Wilson made his mark with aggressiveness, drawing fouls and living at the free-throw line. He rebounded, pushed the break, and played strong defense without fouling. Off the ball, he shared it and made smart extra passes. His activity and willingness to compete every possession gave him steady production and made him an effective two-way contributor.
