Sophomore ID Camp: Spotlight on Team 5

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We hosted the Sophomore ID Camp at Gold Crown on September 7th, bringing together over 140 players from across the state to compete and showcase their abilities. The energy in the gym was high, with plenty of talent on display and several prospects making their mark. He ran the offense, organized teammates, and picked his spots to attack. His ability to balance scoring with facilitating allowed him to keep defenses honest but also create for himself. Defensively, he competed, applied pressure in the presses, and used his quickness to disrupt opposing guards. He excelled in pick-and-roll, hitting rollers for easy finishes while using speed to beat defenders and finish at the rim with either hand. He knocked down a couple of threes, but could hunt that shot more. With his court vision and toughness, Caban stood out in both 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 action and is a player that I think gets plenty of time this upcoming season. He played with pace and was moving without the ball to open lanes for others. He was unselfish as he found cutters and made the extra pass. He was also very active defensively. What stood out to me was the way that he navigated screens and forced turnovers. In 3-on-3, he dominated with craft finishing, floaters, and deep shooting. That was the part of the day where he was very aggressive, took advantage of mismatches, and while I wanted him to showcase his playmaking ability as a distributor, he proved to be one of the better iso scorers. In 5-on-5, he slowed slightly but still showcased balance and control, getting to his strong spots on the left side. His ability to score at all three levels makes him an intriguing guard to follow moving forward and one that is on my radar.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
