Who are the top returning players that will be in Section 2AAA this year? We give you the names!

Hutchinson

Landon Teetzel (2026). Landon is the leading returning scorer at 13 a game and a 5'11 guard. He's also a UWEC football commit as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2848291' first='Matthew' last='Ortloff'] (2027). A 6'5 frontcourt players that came off the bench last year but was the team's fourth leading scorer at 8.2 points a game. Matt moves into the main role as the go to frontcourt player for the Tigers.

Nathan Schumann (2026). Schumann scored five points a game last year and will step into the role next year as the main guard next to Teetzel.

Mankato East

[player_tooltip player_id='1560798' first='Lucas' last='Gustafson'] (2026, [program_tooltip program_id='2075672' first='Minnesota' last='Fury']). Lucas was the second leading scorer at 14 plus points per game last year (plus three assists and three boards a game) and he is coming off of a 17u first team all state player. Gustafson is ready to be the player leading East to state this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1886972' first='Amari' last='Nobles'] (2026, Hoop Habits). Nobles is an agile wing that averaged 9.5 points, four rebounds and 2.5 assists a game last year for the state runner-up. He's a player that can be a strong defender, an athletic finisher, and his three point numbers were solid last year too. Has a chance at an all State season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1597670' first='Braden' last='Petzel'] (2026). The 6'9 Northern Illinois football commit is also a key figure on the basketball court. Petzel scored six points a game last year with 5.3 boards a game and a block a contest. His role will increase this year and he gives the Cougars a piece most teams don't have in the middle

Mankato West

[player_tooltip player_id='2121387' first='Ryan' last='Hendrickson'] (2026, Minnesota Splash). Averaged nine points, 4.5 boards, two assists and two steals a game a season ago as a 47 percent field goal shooter at 6'2. Ryan is the top returning player and should be a preseason All league player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2830830' first='Gus' last='Schweim'] (2026, Minneapolis Splash). Gus is a 6'5 wing skilled player that scored three times a game last year on average and steps into a big role as a senior.

[player_tooltip player_id='2848238' first='Abe' last='Carson'] (2026). Slashing wing scorer that was a part of the varsity last year and had a nice performance at the Battle at the Lakes. Carson and a few of the talented young players should step in and make this team deeper and solid.

Marshall

[player_tooltip player_id='2121365' first='JR' last='Vierstraete'] (2026). At 225 pounds and six feet tall JR is a forward and the top returning player for Marshall this year. JR's main sport is football as he is a Southwest Minnesota State football commit but he's also a good attacking player that is very physical on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2417567' first='Oliver' last='Voigt'] (2028, Team Warwick). The player that we think will step up and be the top Tiger is [player_tooltip player_id='2417567' first='Oliver' last='Voigt'], a 6'5 skilled wing that had a great 15u season with Team Warwick. Voigt was at times the best player on that very good Warwick team and he can that for Marshall as well. Was a varsity contributor as a freshman.

[player_tooltip player_id='2840811' first='Jayden' last='Meister'] (2027, Southwest MN Stars). Another Marshall player ready for a bigger role to help this team is [player_tooltip player_id='2840811' first='Jayden' last='Meister']. The 6'6/6'7 frontcourt players was on varsity as a sophomore and after a solid 16u season he should step into a bigger role for the Tigers.

New Ulm

[player_tooltip player_id='2815441' first='Mitchell' last='Hopp'] (2027, Minnesota Rise). Hopp scored 16 points a game as a sophomore and the 6'3 junior-to-be looks to have a monster junior season for New Ulm. Hopp is a wing that should score 20ppg the next two seasons.

Zach Hubbard (2026). A 6'2 athletic wing that scored in double figures last year and should do so again this year. Hubbard is a three sport standout as a football wideout, basketball wing, and all around baseball talent as well.

Levi Hoop (2027, Minnesota Rise). Levi is the guard that had a 40 point game last winter! Levi is a combo guard at 6'3 who also scored in double figures a season ago.

St. Peter

[player_tooltip player_id='2815371' first='Owen' last='Potts'] (2027, Minnesota Rise). Potts was the St. Peter leading scorer last year and an all league player as a sophomore. Potts is a strong prospect that has a chance to be an all State level player.

[player_tooltip player_id='2815210' first='Parker' last='Maloney'] (2026, Minnesota Rise). The 6'7 250 pound frontcourt player that loves to spin and finish, Parker averaged 14 points and 8.5 rebounds a game as a junior. Standout football, basketball, and track athlete.

[player_tooltip player_id='2815228' first='Carter' last='Dale'] (2026). Dale is a steady combo guard that plays tough, scored around ten points a game last year, and will step into a bigger, versatile role this winter.

Worthington

[player_tooltip player_id='2860798' first='Isaiah' last='Schroeder'] (2027). A 6'3 wing that at times led Worthington in scoring last season and played a big role.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140698' first='Treyson' last='Meinders'] (2027). Worthington went young last year with the sophomore class which led to Meinders often playing the starting lead guard role.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140568' first='Caleb' last='Meyer'] (2027). A 6'3 forward that joined Schroeder and Meinders in the starting line-up last year. Worthington won five games but they were young and got experience.
