Saturday In Oswego Prep Hoops hosted the Next Middle School camp. As always I highlight the players who stood out the most from the camp.

[player_tooltip player_id='2969046' first='Joaquin' last='Punzalan'] 2030 (Lincoln Hall) 5'4

Joaquin is a small guard who made plays for himself and others in both games. He started by making deep shots with the ball touching nothing but the net. As a floor general he used some craftiness to touch paint and hit players cutting and spotting up for threes. Although he was small Punzalan showed his game and how important it was for him to play off two feet.

[player_tooltip player_id='2967740' first='Jordan' last='Fabian'] 2030 (Aux Sable) 5'6

Joran is a crafty ball handler who is always around the rock. Fabian displayed three-level scoring ability already and a willingness to guard the ball with aggression. When looking to facilitate he used the drift pass to hit teammates right on the money from the other side of the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2333959' first='Christian' last='Fuller'] 2030 (Christ Lutheran) 5'11

Fuller is a taller guard who went on mini runs during stretches of the game. His handle and ability to get in and out of the lane led to bucket after bucket. Christian scored mostly off isolation attacks beating multiple defenders with slick crossovers and an array of layups once near the rim. He has an advanced skillset for an 8th grader.

[player_tooltip player_id='2369920' first='Luke' last='Beran'] 2030 (Naperville) 6'3

Luke was impressive on Saturday. He's a bigger wing who is crafty with the handle and has good body control for a player his size. When driving to the basket he can finish with either hand and is capable of playing through bumps. As a thicker wing player he had no problems battling on the glass and pushing the ball up the court with space. Beran will be a player we'll continue to track when he gets to high school.

[player_tooltip player_id='2948495' first='James' last='Rydberg'] 2030 6'4

Rydberg skilled forward with good footwork and touch by the basket. His handle and ability to beat taller defenders off the bounce with a crossover were key moves he used often. Around the basket he scored a few shots off a spin move into a fadeaway. I was very impressed with James' length and feel for the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2966363' first='Grayson' last='Johnson'] 2030 (John F. Kennedy MS) 6'1

Grayson is a tough and poised wing with size. He played with a motor and was aggressive near the rim. Johnson scored through contact well and was often double teamed in the paint. Grayson strength advantage over some of the players was apparent and was a big reason he dominated at times. Johnson will be a player to track once he enters high school.
