During the weekend of September 6-7, John Lucas and crew hosted the annual Be Elite Invitational Camp in Houston. This camp combines skill stations and live scrimmaging/scenario concepts for high school varsity players around the nation to go through and work on improving their skill set. I had my eye on a few prospects coming into this event and some new faces made their way onto my radar watch. Let's examine the strong performances of some athletes at the camp who caught my attention!

Malik was a great post player and all-around presence for his squad in the full court scrimmage games. He functioned at multiple positions on offense, doing everything from handling the ball up the floor, grabbing rebounds, and finishing in transition. He showed ability to dominate matchups one on one, get himself to the foul line, and play great paint defense at the rim. Attending New Wave Academy will be a big opportunity for Parrish when it comes to exposure and I am sure he will continue the momentum throughout the school year.

William was an enforcer helping with rebounds on both sides of the ball, getting himself tough buckets through constant contact and achieving a lot of second chance points for his team. Transferring to AZ Compass from PSAT Academy will be a huge rise in playing against better competition for William and with several D1 offers already, he has a chance to make even more of an impact. With good mobility and great fundamentals for his size, look for William to excel more given a bigger stage.

Nickolas Yotter was one of the players at the Be Elite camp that did not need to score to impact his team's performance. Yotter was physical in the paint, battling for loose balls and rebounds as well as being a great hustle and vocal player. Yotter knows how to fill his lane properly in transition and run the floor with deceptive speed for his size. Nickolas is a great energy presence and holds down the paint well with fundamental defense.

Nick Ballenger was a knockdown shooter, starting the station drills on 5/5 from long range. He is great off the spot up catch and shoot as well as constantly moving without the ball in his hands. He plays to his strengths when he's knocking down shots and making the defense pay for leaving him open. Nick impressed me with his unselfish passing as well, not chunking up bad shots and helping keep his teammates involved in the offense.

Nolan Coffman helped run the guard slot and beat the press for his team during the full court games. He played the role of a hustle guard who helped in the paint with rebounds and slashing, drove to the basket even against taller defenders, and shot open jumpers when the defense missed their assignment. Coffman was one of the new faces that I was able to observe during the entirety of camp and I will be keeping a close eye on him this year as the school season progresses.
