Coming off a strong summer in both AAU and scholastic play, Skoric showed no signs of slowing down in a 21-point effort in a resounding win on Saturday afternoon. Known for his perimeter shooting, Skoric converted on just one shot from beyond the arc, showing his steadily improving versatility as a scorer. The increasingly well-rounded forward was effective using his size to finish efficiently near the rim and also impressed as a self-created scorer off the bounce. The flashes of pullup shooting to go along with his floor-spacing off the catch point to an intriguing upside, leaving no wonder why several D1 programs are currently vying for Skoric's services.

Bergen enters the season pegged by many as the top team in the state, and Avent was a huge key as the Crusaders gave a glimpse as to why in a tight win over Patrick School. A versatile modern forward and consensus top-100 prospect nationally, he got off to a slow start but was crucial down the stretch with a number of clutch buckets. What he may lack in explosiveness, Avent makes up for with skill and IQ, as shown in the way he cerebrally broke down his matchup, asserting his will physically on several tough-nosed drives and finishes. His perimeter stroke was a bit off, but Avent tossed in a triple for good measure and overall made it clear why he and Bergen will be such a force to be reckoned with this winter.

Despite being shorthanded in the absence of two starters, Gill impressed with a gritty effort in an overtime loss to Holy Cross (NY) with Highlander leading the way up front. A hard-nosed and versatile forward, Highlander plays as a big man in an otherwise undersized Knights lineup, using his size, strength, and motor to make an impact defending the paint and cleaning the glass. He shows his versatility on the other end, with a sneaky skillset creating his own offense off the bounce along with the ability to step out and showcase a smooth perimeter stroke. Entering his second full year in the U.S. from his native Cameroon, Highlander should be firmly on the radar of scholarship-level programs as he continues getting acclimated with the American game.

Coatesville was shorthanded on Saturday as consensus five-star sophomore Colton Hiller nursed a minor injury, with his absence forcing Brown into go-to role offensively. Known as a defensive stalwart, the southpaw has gradually developed his offensive skillset over the years and put it to use in a tight loss, showcasing his growth as a faceup scorer off the dribble and finisher around the basket. Brown used his size, athleticism, and burgeoning skill throughout the game to keep the Red Raiders close. On the other end, he's a lynchpin using his unique physical profile to both defend the rim and step out to the perimeter to contain the ball. His growth offensively should serve to open the eyes of low D1 programs over the course of the winter.

All that seemed to be missing from Linden's lineup was a true big man in the Tigers' quest to climb back to the top of the state's public school ranks. Enter Deng, a transfer from South Sudan by way of Potter's House (FL). Helping engineer a comeback win over NYC power St. Raymond, Deng showed the impact he'll make among an already-established core due to his unmatched size and physicality. Sticking neatly to his role up front, he attacked the ball off the glass on both ends while using his size and length to protect the rim defensively. On the other end, he brings value as a roller and dumpoff threat for the Linden guards, with flashes of back-to-basket scoring when given the opportunity. We'll continue to get a feel for him in further evaluations, but Deng could certainly draw intrigue up to the D1 level as he begins to build up a resumé in the region.
