[player_tooltip player_id='1703096' first='Elias' last='Obenyah'] had an excellent summer. He took full advantage of displaying his combo guard skill set on the Adidas circuit. At 6'5, he showed he could slide into the point guard role, read defenses and create plays out of the pick-and-roll with consistency. Whether it's scoring himself or setting up a teammate, he is able to make a non-premeditated decision.

His mid-range game is tough (tuff) with great footwork and the ability to get to his spots allows him to be very efficient. Obenyah's body control allows him to finish plays in traffic, while his handle and poise gives him the ability to dictate pace and attack when he chooses. His confidence with the ball allows him to dribble in tight spaces and probe, if its nothing there his mid range fadeaway is merely unguarded.

Max Van Laningham brings a blend of athleticism and toughness to the floor. He's physical enough to bang with players his size while also using his agility to outmaneuver bigger opponents.

His energy and impact on both ends makes him a player to watch as he continues to develop.

Chase Roberson | 6'5 Guard | The Branson School

Chase Roberson has established himself as one of the best scorers in Norcal. At 6'5, he uses his size, skill and elite athleticism to create his own shot against any type of defender that stands in front of him. Whether breaking a defender down off the dribble, pulling up in rhythm or finishing strong at the rim. Roberson has a deep bag that makes him tough to contain.

He's particularly effective when probing with the ball, showing patience and poise before attacking the defense. With Chase's athletic ability, he actually doesn't need to go through deep in his bag… he has a quick first step and when players contest his shot inside the key, he has the ability to jump up and hang in the air until he can get the shot off.

At Branson, the development has been impressive. Their players have the ability to play multiple roles. This enables their stars to take pressure off of one another. They can all facilitate, play off the ball, or be the main guy. The versatility of Roberson will be intriguing to colleges. He'll see an influx of offers coming his way throughout the season.

JP Pihvovs | 6'9” PF | Archbishop Riordan High | Oakland Soldiers

JP Pihvovs is one of the more intriguing forwards in Northern California. At 6'9”, 220 pounds, he brings a unique combination of size, mobility, and skill to the game. What makes Pihvovs stand out is his versatility— he can impact the game in a number of ways.

Pihvovs is a strong rebounder and a reliable paint presence. He uses his size and motor to clean the glass and finish plays around the rim. During the EYBL season, he didn't step out and showcase much perimeter shooting, but his form looks clean. That was reinforced this summer when he shot 33% from three while competing with the Latvia U18 national team.

Defensively, Pihvovs uses his length and timing to alter shots and protect the rim. He's active around the basket and has the tools to anchor a defense.
