Freshman Watch List 2029 Guards

Over the Spring and Summer, PH NorCal has gathered enough information on incoming Freshman to produce a Watch List of 61 prospects for the NorCal Class of 2029. The players in this group we saw on the Varsity, with their high school teams at Section 7, Cali-Live and NorCal Events for high school in early June. This group of guards will probably be contributors on the Varsity in some way. Some will start right away, others will come off the bench. Like most Freshman they'll have their ups and downs.    He'll be a contributor right away on the varsity. There's a good chance he'll be running the point guard position from the beginning. He's a crafty guard with superb ball handling skills, quality vision, and loaded with confidence. He has the court vision to find players all over the court. His speed, and quickness allows him to a be constant threat for assists, and points.     He's already showing he can handle things at the varsity level. He's a confident, quick guard with plenty of ways to break down defenders, get into the paint, and score in traffic. He has the ability to generate buckets and involve others. He changes speeds, has a burst, hits the quick pull-up jumper. He's hard to stay in front of at times.     He's been playing and contributing with his varsity team throughout the Spring and Summer. He's held his own made the right plays, plays within the framework of the offense. He sees the court, moves the ball. Most notedly he's a good 3-point shooter who finds open spots, uses screens, and has a good release.     A quick point guard with developing skills. Like all in this group he'll have his ups, and down throughout the season running point on varsity. He did well handling ball pressure, making quick reads. He split the defense at times, sees the court to make the pass up early. He can get into the paint for floaters, and paint jumpers. He has the foot speed to stay in front of ball handlers.     A strong body combo guard, will get stronger. He works mostly off ball for now, though he does bring it up on occasion. He makes good use of his strength, and upper body driving into the paint, he doesn't mind the contact, sometimes he initiates it. He'll shoot open 3's, has good lift on the paint jumper. He goes hard to the basket in transition. He showed good defensive movements.
