1.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2617484' first='Carter' last='Lightfoot'] (MFL MarMac) -- 148 assists

A 5-10 lead guard who paces one of the fastest-paced offenses in the class, Lightfoot handles it well, protects the ball, and is a skilled passer who impacts the game on both ends of the floor. He posted a 2.64 assist-to-turnover ratio and averaged 3.6 steals per game.

2.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2679273' first='Maddux' last='DeWinter'] (Union) -- 138

DeWinter is a true pass-first guard who averaged nearly as many assists (5.1) as points (5.3) as a junior. He's a quick guard who does a great job setting his teammates up.

3.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2886831' first='Drew' last='Greve'] (Regina) -- 134

A 5-11 guard who stuffs the stat sheet in a variety of ways, Greve averaged 9.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 2.2 steals per game and posted a sterling 2.85 assist-to-turnover ratio as a junior. With four of their top five scorers returning, the Regals could be a serious contender in 2A this winter, and Greve's ability to set the table is a big reason why.

4.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1765519' first='Brady' last='Gogel'] (Beckman Catholic) -- 133*

Gogel led Monticello in assists last season, dishing out 5.8 helpers a contest, and he has transferred to Dyersville for his senior year, where he'll give the Blazers a veteran presence in the backcourt alongside some talented wing scoring options.

5.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2413534' first='Judd' last='Jirovsky'] (Grundy Center) -- 122

Jirovsky has been instant offense off the bench for the Spartans over the last few years and will step into the starring role as a senior. He's an explosive scorer who does a great job using the threat of his three-level scoring to open up his playmaking off the dribble for his teammates.

6.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2420786' first='AJ' last='Harder'] (Tri-Center) -- 120

Harder also found himself on the top returning scorers list, a testament to his all-around offensive versatility. He's a quick-twitch athlete who is also a standout quarterback, and when you take that into account, it's no surprise he's a gifted passer on the hardwood as well.

7.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2287857' first='Brayden' last='Hoben'] (Grand View Christian) -- 115

Hoben is one of the best players in 2A and will be an absolute force for a GVC team that will be among the best in the class this season. At 6-5/6-6, he has great length and explosive athleticism. His size gives him a huge advantage, seeing over defenders. He can create off the dribble or post up smaller defenders and find open shooters from the block.

8.) 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2413533' first='Jameson' last='Scharnberg'] (Grand View Christian) -- 114

Another skilled Thunder player who does a great job sharing the rock, Scharnberg led the team in assists per game last season, dishing out 5.0 helpers a game with a 2.53 assist-to-turnover ratio. He's a quick guard with excellent vision, tight handles, and he can shoot it at a high level off both the dribble and the catch, with range well beyond the high school line, meaning defenders have to play him tight.

9.) 2026 Layton Maasen (Missouri Valley) -- 113

Maasen accounted for a huge chunk of the Big Reds offensive attack last season, the only player to average in double figures in scoring at 16.2 points per game while also dishing out nearly 5 assists a night.

10.) 2026 Colton O'Neill (Waukon) -- 110

O'Neill is a fast guard who loves to play downhill and attack the rim, putting constant pressure on opposing defenders with his ability to create quality looks for his teammates. He does a little bit of everything for the Indians, averaging 7.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.
