In this article I speak about the up and coming 2028 prospects who made some noise at the WAAC.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531973' first='Brady' last='Pettigrew'] Bolingbrook 6'3

Pettigrew is always dynamic in these open type settings. He plays with aggression and high energy on both sides of the ball. Most of Brady's big plays came from fastbreaks where he connected off lobs from [player_tooltip player_id='2125627' first='Ethan' last='Vahl'] or he raced out and finished his dunks. At times Brady put some guys on an island and dropped them off when getting to the basket. Considered as one of the top players in the state regardless of class.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194655' first='Braydon' last='Porter'] Yorkville 6'4

Porter is a prospect who can easily sneak into the top 3 or even the top spot by his junior year. He has a combination of size, explosiveness, and skill. He dazzled everyone with his second gear beating defenders off the dribble and finding different ways to score around the basket. He has an instant impact when he's around the ball. His movement and agility when getting past players while still having balance to finish plays is elite. He continues to improve the shot. Anytime I see him it's a joy to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125627' first='Ethan' last='Vahl'] Oswego 6'2

Vahl is a player we've come to expect to give us highlight-worthy plays. He's a three-level scoring point guard who is proving to most that he can balance between putting the ball in the basket and facilitating to his teammates. Ethan shot it well from three while serving up dimes to players off ball screens. One of the connections made consistently was to his AAU teammate Pettigrew who caught many lobs at the basket. Ethan plans on playing this weekend at the Sophomore ID Camp and if he continues to play the way he did at the WAAC Combine we are in for a treat.

[player_tooltip player_id='2395586' first='Amir' last='Beasley'] Danville 6'10

Amir was easily the biggest surprise at the Combine for me. Just walking into the gym you notice the 6'10 slender forward on the court. Once the game is in play you see how fluid and mobile he is with the ball and away from it. As a lefty he has some moves that make you say big men shouldn't move like this. He has some good step-through and euro step ability when getting downhill. He uses touch on the ball when near the rim. His upside is through the roof with his ability to handle the ball on the perimeter like a guard. In the games a few times Beasley drove down the lane and finished with two-handed hand slams. His length to rim protect and rebound make him a serious candidate to challenge for the top big man in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='2542413' first='Alvin' last='Robinson'] Lincoln Park 6'4

Alvin was in a groove when I caught his game. At his size he figures out how to score on smaller guys he has some shake to his game to get in and out of trouble with his handle. When he shoots it he can stretch things past the high school three-point line. A few times Robinson created for Beasley when driving downhill. Robinson should be poised for a breakout high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2540205' first='John' last='Brown IV'] Homewood Flossmoor 6'6

Brown is another player who has made some strides from last season to now. He's an uber athletic forward who made lots of plays above the rim and still has lots of upside in his game as he starts to figure things out. John was strong at times with the ball in his hands using straight-lined drives at the cup. He is thin but long and gets enough room to elevate over guys. As he adds strength, finishing plays with dunks will be a normal occurrence for Brown. Another player with tremendous upside who should have more playing time this season and we see some growth in his game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2877539' first='Lester' last='Watson'] Thornwood 6'1

Watson was solid during play. Was more of a passer in the runs. He knows how to get to the second line of defense and draw guys over to him to make a play for others. It's scary to think Lester is only going into his second season because he plays like an upperclassman at times.

[player_tooltip player_id='2949600' first='Marlon' last='Williams'] Bolingbrook 5'10

Half of the twin duo at The Brook Marlon is a shifty guard who can pass and score around the basket. He and his brother have good change-of-pace moves that throw defenders off guard when looking to get deep in the lane. Marlon played with good patience and it will be interesting to watch his growth over the next few years.

[player_tooltip player_id='2532021' first='Mason' last='Williams'] Bolingbrook 6'0

Mason is the slightly taller twin brother of Marlon. A crafty combo guard who made plays in the lane scoring layups pretty often. His feel for the game is good especially because he didn't seem to be sped up by aggressive defense. Mason showed some range on the shot also. He and his brother will have to wait their turn at Bolingbrook because the varsity roster seems to be stacked with impactful guards.
