June 17-18 I watched the third ever Section-7 Qualifier. There were 96 teams in 6 pools of 16 teams each.

The 6 winners advanced to the official Section-7 June 20-22 versus some of the top teams on the West Coast.

I watched a bunch of full and half of some of the games. I obviously did not watch every team and when I watched, I am basing it on that performance and on the teams success combined.

Congrats to Arcadia, Centennial, Chaparral, Cienega, Dysart & Salpointe Catholic for earning spots into the weekends Section-7 Tournament.

8th Team Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='2674196' first='Kaleb' last='Bowen'] Mountain Ridge

A bigger very fluid wing forward can create his own offense. He is just scratching the surface. He is due for a huge season with scoring from all levels. He can get his shot off with threes and mid-range pull-ups. He was a hair off in the game I viewed but you see the foundation he is building. He has the momentum of a monster season upcoming.

[player_tooltip player_id='2884697' first='Chase' last='Butler'] The Gregory School

A combo guard with some size and skill. The lefty can get a step on his defender and get to the basket. He handles the contact to score and he also sees the court well to make plays for his teammates. Him and [player_tooltip player_id='2133645' first='Razin' last='Smith Jr'] form a tough young duo.

[player_tooltip player_id='2674658' first='Dylan' last='Gesner'] Eastmark

A sturdy framed scoring point guard who will make smart reads to teammates but he wants to score. He will get downhill and score with either hand and handles the bump well. He can shoot the three and plays with an edge.

[player_tooltip player_id='2689901' first='Drew' last='Jolley'] Prescott

A bigger sophomore post player who is a very good rebounder in and out of his area. He keeps plays alive and he is a sneaky good passer once he gets doubled teamed to find an open teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='2849553' first='Mikel' last='Montgomery'] Maryvale

An athletic sophomore driver is tough getting downhill. He brings some energy to the court and has a huge motor to rebound. He defends multiple positions and will score it in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='2133645' first='Razin' last='Smith Jr'] The Gregory School

The big man played his first event of the summer and showed well. He has soft hands to catch tough passes in traffic and uses his girth and strength to score inside with floaters and can take the ball off the glass and go coast to coast. He will rebound and block shots and bring some toughness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2396139' first='Kristian' last='White'] Palo Verde

An athletic scoring guard who is a quick leaper. He is efficient around the basket with layups and gets so high up, you think he will dunk it. He brings energy to the floor and defends multiple positions.

[player_tooltip player_id='2507246' first='Quincee' last='Wilson'] Kellis

A long wing forward is a long strider to the basket who can face up to the three point line. He is a sneaky good passer with either hand and rebounds at a good rate in his area. He is just scratching the surface on how good he can be and he should play perfectly off of [player_tooltip player_id='2674058' first='Zion' last='Woods'].

[player_tooltip player_id='2674058' first='Zion' last='Woods'] Kellis (Pictured)

The senior guard controls the tempo and offense of the team. He is a shifty guard who handles it well and can create some separation to get his shot off. He will drive and kick it to a shooter and get to the basket plus hit the three with range.
