S7/Cali Live: 2027 Standouts: Part-1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>June 20-22 I attended the annual&nbsp;<strong>Section-7&nbsp;</strong>at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa and I attended the&nbsp;<strong>Cali Live</strong>&nbsp;tournament June 27-29 in at the Open Gym Premier Sports Complex in Ladera Ranch.CA.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both events were live periods where college coaches sometimes were standing room only watching certain teams and players.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were some of the 2027 Standouts: Part-1 </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1555179' first='Darius' last='Wabbington'] Sunnyslope&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The big man with skill level from all levels. He can give a triple threat and pass it or rise up from mid-range and drill it. He can shoot it from the perimeter and gets deep inside and score with fall aways, polished hook shots and keeps the ball high on the p/r action to score it. He goes in stretches where his middy is automatic. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2039513' first='DJ' last='Spencer'] Millennium (Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the tougher wing forwards in the junior class is Spencer. He will score with offensive rebound put backs, fall aways,&nbsp; catch threes, hook shots in the post and he made a few incredible passes. The versatility to play and defend multiple positions makes him a tough cover. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2295693' first='Maddox' last='Lazor'] Basha&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The big man showed why he is one of the best transfer portal additions in the AIA. He has real size and strength inside the paint to be a top of the food chain rebounder and he is a great passer in the post and will score around the basket with dunks and put backs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1464983' first='Mick' last='Riordan'] St. Mary's&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A bigger combo guard who is a catch and shoot three point gunner. He was another top portal transfer whose IQ and skill pop off the page. He changes speeds so well and moves the ball with his next level passing. He can create his own offense off the dribble and rise up from mid-range. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2412232' first='Terrell' last='Fair II'] Cactus Shadows&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A shooting guard is a true 3 and D type. He will rattle in threes off the catch and he will pull-up off the dribble. He can grab a rebound and go coast to coast. He will make the extra pass and his ability to defend all perimeter positions keeps him on the floor. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2143671' first='Ashton' last='Musser'] St. Mary's </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A rare old school throw back post player with great hands and feet. He rebounds the ball at a good clip in his area. He will score with the catch three with a quicker release and reverse layups in the paint with a quick spin move. He will block shots and take charges. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2146239' first='Carsyn' last='Dean'] Ironwood</strong>&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard is playing a lot on the ball now with the graduating PG. He will drive and kick it but he is definitely in attack mode most of the time with threes off the catch with range or pull and will dribble drive to the basket to score or spin off of his defender. He has become stronger in the last year.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2337274' first='Brig' last='Bowden'] Mesa </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another big man has some size and good girth and strength. He rebounds well in and out of his area and holds his ground in the post just as well as anyone.&nbsp;He will score it around the basket efficiently and sets strong picks and roll to the basket. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
