IL Tune Up: 2028 Evaluations

Here's some more evaluations I made from watching numerous 2028 prospects over the weekend at the Illinois tune-up. I'll share more evaluations from the 2027 and 2026 classes in the coming days.    Foster's an underrated point guard who showcased elite vision and playmaking throughout the weekend for The Work 15u. He excels at reading plays which allowed for plenty of assist chances. As a scorer, gems capable of hitting shots anywhere on the floor. Not afraid to let it fly at any moment.      Johnson was a key difference maker for Flight 15u on Sunday. It seems like he's added some length over the past few months, and that allowed him to be a super effective defender. Working well with forcing turnovers from double teams against Illinois wolves. I love his ability to change direction with the ball. He's capable of finishing with both hands with a smooth touch around the rim. Also displaying great footwork and ball-handling to help him break off opponents.     The ceiling is getting higher for [player_tooltip player_id='2402994' first='Jake' last='Abbott']. And the potential is definitely there for a 6'3” wing/guard. His superior length allows him to be an extremely effective defender. But the pace he plays with is very underrated. He changes the game with his ability to attack the rim and score efficiently through contact. He also shoots well from outside the arc. Abbott could be a big time sleeper in 2028 if he continues to grow.      Embrey's got so much to offer as a 6'4” wing. The long wingspan at his disposal allows him to be super effective as a rebounder and defender. I saw a lot from him offensively to be a game-changer o can't end, too. He does a very good job freeing himself up on screens, while showing he can be an effective scorer both inside and from the mid-range. Love the touch around the rim. There's a few aspects to his game that still need some improvement. But the upside cannot be overlooked.     Physical 6'0” point guard from Guilford and FVV. Love the upper body strength at his disposal. But what stood out more than anything was his ability to make plays on the open floor. Dishing out multiple dimes in transition. He also uses his aggression to fight hard for loose change.      6'4” W from Winnebago that could grow into an elite prospect in his class. I love his ability to create separation off the ball, as he made the job super easy for his teammates on many occasions. Defensively, he can guard all five positions while making great reads to intercept passes. The physical tools are definitely there with Beck. If he can improve with his shooting abilities, he would take a massive leap in our rankings.     This point guard is a difference-maker in so many ways for All-in 15u Gold. He's got a unique ability get open off the ball with firm cuts. And with the ball, he's explosive attacking the rim. He's even capable of making an impact on the glass. Which is a very unique trait for someone his size. Helping his team get numerous second chance opportunities when covering his game.
