Friday was another great day of hoops at EYBL in Augusta. Check out the games and top prospects that left the biggest impression on us in EYBL Augusta: Scotty B's Friday Notebook!

Meanstreets 15U Scores Narrow Win over Indy Heat to Start Day

First game we caught was Meanstreets 15U game against Indy Heat. It was a fun contest with a lot of exciting guard play. Meanstreets won narrowly 67-65. Bolingbrook shooting guard Brady Pettigrew shined in front of Duke head coach Jon Scheyer. He came out aggressive playing above the rim in transition followed by pouring in a plethora of turnaround jumpers and crisp mid-range shots. Played above the rim on alley-oops and got to the rim with athleticism. He had 20 points. Ethan Vahl with another really good game as the Oswego guard shot it well from the perimeter knocking in an array of threes with feathery touch. Flied in on the glass as he has become a very good rebounder for a guard. Really like the growth of his passing game as well while he scored 17 points. Pike (IN) forward Landon Lampley continues to elevate his stock. Long and lanky face up four that can handle it on straight line takes, spin moves off the bounce, and had a nice hook shot. Alley oop dunks and tip slams. Plus shot blocker as well. He dropped 15 points. Strong and athletic wing Yorkville's Braydon Porter did what he always does contributing across the board in transition, knocking in corner threes, and pushed in open floor for dimes. The upside of Danville 2028 power forward Amir Beasley is a long and lanky post that is a monster defensively with his shot blocking and how much ground he can cover. The swiss Army knife for this squad Lyons small forward Grant Smith rebounded, defended, and made a three which he got fouled.

Indy Heat was led by Dylan Zeigler out of Ohio. The 6'3” guard was a dynamic scorer from all three levels. Quickness and burst with the ball in his hands getting downhill for soft touch finishes and acrobatic layups. Also a capable shooter that drained three of them in this game. Very bright future for this 2028 guard.

Clark Leads Meanstreets 17U to Instant Classic Win vs Boo Williams

Meanstreets jumped out early in their game against Boo Williams looking like they were going to run away. Boo Williams came back and took the lead briefly in the 3rd quarter. Meanstreets got a sizeable lead again in the fourth before Boo Williams rallied to tie it. They had the ball with shot clock off and coming out of a timeout Brady Sehlhorst stole the ball and it ultimately got to Rich Township wing Jayden Williams who hit the short jumper to give Meanstreets a lead. They got the stop on the final possession and won 79-77.

The #2 senior in Illinois Marquis Clark was the star for Meanstreets throughout. The strong bodied and athletic guard lived in the paint all game long scoring on slick takes and powerful drives alike. Also got to the foul line at a good rate. Great body control at the rim. Passed it well in the half court making sound decisions with the ball as he had 22 points and 5 dimes. New Trier small forward Danny Houlihan stepped up on the wing as he was 2-3 from deep which is his specialty along with stepping in for a crisp pull up off a shot fake for 13 points. Prep school bound Brady Sehlhorst was impactful making a couple big threes and the key steal late en route to 13 points himself. O'Fallon win Ben Akoro continues to just play his role for this team. Wing that had a nice take for a dunk, another for a euro step, and rebounded extremely well netting 6 points and 11 rebounds. The tough shot making from Rajan Roberts was once again on display banging in some difficult jumpers and playing with burst in transition for 9 points.

Boo Williams has a pair of bucket getters on the wings in Jayden Johnson and Dreylan Creasy-Quirindoongo. Johnson is a thick bodied shot maker that poured them in from distance both off the catch and pulling up for 20 points. Dreylan is an athletic wing with size that easily rose up over defenders for his shot going 4-8 from three along with scoring on the glass as he had 21 points and 8 rebounds. Styles Clemmons is a legit lead guard that did most of his damage getting in the paint for scores with his speed as he had 19 points.

Nightrydas 17U Comeback from Slow Start to Defeat Brad Beal Elite with 2nd Half Push

It looked like Brad Beal Elite had control of this game in the early going, but Nightrydas stormed back behind their balanced attack in the second half to win 62-56. Their top prospect wing Caleb Gaskins scored 11 points in the win. Big and physical wing with plus athleticism that is explosive getting downhill for scores or getting fouled. Harris Reynolds is an athletic guard that was electric with acrobatic finishes at the rim along with crisp jumpers for 11 points. Emanual Green defended at a high level along with dropping 9 points in the win. Marcellous Jackson also had 9 points including a pair of threes.

Bit of a quiet game from Arkansas commit JJ Andrews for BBE. The powerfully built wing got to the hoop with brute force, hit the glass for put backs, and rebounded well. The efficiency just wasn't there scoring 11 points (4-15 FG) and snatching 6 boards. Marquette commit and John Burroughs (MO) center Sheek Pearson had flashes throwing down big dunks on tip ins and alley-oops along with rebounding well on both ends for 12 points and 9 rebounds. Solid game out of Principia (MO) wing Quentin Coleman. Understated wing that is rock solid game in and game out as he was in this game with 10 points while stuffing the stat sheet.

Smith and Samuels Flex Muscle in Team Takeover 17U Win vs Team Durant

Anytime you get two of the premier teams from the DMV together there will be a ton of star power. That was the case in this game with 3 five-stars on the floor. Team Takeover led the majority of the game behind their elite 2026 wing Jordan Smith Jr who was dominant. Team Durant got close in the fourth, but that is when TTO's other star came alive as Qayden Samuels went for 16 points in the 4th quarter alone to squash the rally as Team Takeover won 75-65.

In this game you got to see why Jordan Smith of Paul VI (DC) is such a special prospect. Elite competitor that does everything on the floor to help his team win. He threw down some vicious dunks throughout the contest on explosive slashes. One of the best rebounding guards in the country as he is so powerful and quick cleaning up the boards. Made several mid-range jumpers. Tenacious defender and connective passer on the offensive end. He had 19 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Qayden Samuels of Bishop McNamara (MD) is a favorite of mine with his unique body type and lethal scoring game. He was solid through three quarters, but in the fourth he completely took over. The southpaw banged in back to back corner threes, hit a baseline jumper, alley-oop jam, and a blow by on the wing for a nasty lefty tomahawk jam. Finished the game with 24 points in the win.

It took him a bit to get going, but Team Durant star Babatunde Oladotun of James Hubert Blake (MD) got going in the fourth. The long and rangy forward is the #1 rising junior in the country. He has all the skill, length, and athleticism you could want in a prospect. In the fourth quarter he was more aggressive getting to the line, hit a difficult mid-range jumper, had a put back, then slammed home a spin move on the baseline out of the post with so much fluidity. Went for 15 points and 7 rebounds. Evans Barning Jr is a wing that has big time hops playing above the cup and getting to the line as he racked up 15 points. Zyion Chase is a big bodied post that is light on his feet. Works well in pick/roll game and has pop around the hoop notching 13 points and 7 rebounds in an efficient manner.
