On Saturday, July 26th, I attended Brandeis University's Jean Bain Elite Camp at their gym in Waltham, MA. There were about 40 kids in attendance, and I'll be having a first and second team from the camp.

As always, it's difficult to watch every kid at every moment, but these are the guys that I came away the most impressed with — there are others I was impressed with, too.

Read: Brandeis Elite Camp: First Team

Below is the Brandeis Elite Camp second team.

Rivera wasn't hitting a lot of his outside shots during Saturday's elite camp, but I was impressed with his overall floor game and think he might've just had a bad shooting day (though he definitely needs more arc on his shot). He understands how to run an offense and was consistently communicating with teammates about where to be and when to cut. He also throws really good, hard passes and drives in straight lines to the hoop. He's strong, athletic and controlled, and I think he'll get a good number of minutes for a rebuilding Governor's Academy team this season. Should be a D3 guy.

For his size, Reynolds was one of the better passers at Brandeis camp. The 6-foot-4 wing does a great job looking off defenders and threw a variety of backdoor and cross court passes that got his teammates wide open threes and layups. Scoring wise, he showed an ability to occasionally hit shots from long range and does a good job handling the ball, especially after securing rebounds. He's sort of a tweener (in between forward and guard), but I think he should be able to find a D3 fit as a result of his size and passing ability. A more consistent outside shot would be huge for him.

Noles is an undersized big man with great strength. He has an awesome base defensively and is able to guard bigs as a result of his lower body density, but he's also a solid athlete who can slide his feet with guards on the perimeter during switches. Offensively, the 6-foot-4 forward is an incredibly unselfish playmaker who consistently got into the paint and made strong kick out passes for open threes -- he's a great over-the-head passer. He also has excellent hands, which makes him a talented offensive rebounder and dunker-spot hanger. D3 guy at the low or mid level if I had to guess.

I didn't notice Kim until later in the day, but he eventually really impressed me with his floor general capabilities in the final game of the day. He has fantastic passing vision and threw tons of successful no-look passes that totally fooled the defense and opened up lanes for his teammates. When the defense didn't collapse on him, he did a really solid job using his strength and balance to knock defenders off their position and finish at the cup -- he's deceivingly strong and sturdy. He had a shoulder injury and didn't shoot too many outside shots, but his mid range looked relatively confident and consistent too. Low to mid D3 guy probably.

For a rising junior, Kim has really intriguing size, length and athleticism at the wing position. He had a variety of nice dribble moves to the hoop and showcased strong, steady footwork in the paint on spin moves and step throughs. He's also a willing and hard cutter off the ball, though he loses some off-ball value because he isn't a knock down shooter. Defensively, he's active as a rim protector and slides his feet really well on the perimeter against quicker guards. He needs to improve his passing and feel but he has two years to do so before college. Should be a D3 guy, perhaps at a high level if he improves his offensive skill set.
