One of my favorite stops of the off-season is at the Ray Milness Summer Shootout at Stagg. Every year I get to see very good talent get warmed up before the June live period. Today was no exception here are the standouts from today's games

[player_tooltip player_id='2821694' first='Jonah' last='Johnson'] Sandburg 2026 6'4

Johah is an undersized forward who made a presence for himself around the basket. He was strong on the offensive glass and made a name for himself scoring off putbacks. Johnson played hard through contact and made it difficult for weaker players to match his effort.

[player_tooltip player_id='2834463' first='Amari' last='Williams'] Shepard 2028 6'8

The top big man in the freshman class showed how well he has progressed since the season ended. Amari was strong in the post using good footwork and patience with the ball. He scored a couple of baskets through contact that he wasn't able to do during the season. On defense, he blocked several shots and pulled down as my boards as he could in his area. Williams is working to increase those double-double numbers.

Junior Kemm Shepard 2026 6'4

Junior was the surprise of the day. A transfer kid from Brazil who played in some high-quality games before making the trip to America. Kemm is an athletic guard who showed his handles very well. He made big plays off drives to the rim a few he parted the lanes and finished with two-handed slams. His shot from deep was slightly inconsistent but he made a few lefty mid-range shots. Junior is a pest on defense with his long arms and constant quick-twitch moments. He's a for-sure college prospect in the 2026 class.

Michael Nee Glenbard East 2026 6'2

The state's top shooter had really good moments Friday. He showed how effective he can be a passer when getting pressured on the perimeter. Nee is good at getting downhill and scoring at the rim with either hand but it was his vision and being able to hit teammates wide open for shots. Michael is getting his game in tune for a very interesting live period next week as he's sure to land some offers. I also don't want to forget that he hit 8 threes in the last game of the day.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531973' first='Brady' last='Pettigrew'] Bolingbrook 2028 6'2

Pettigrew is now the go-to guy at Bolingbrook after just one season. With graduation and transfers he becomes the top guy and he showed it right away. Brady was at his best in transition getting countless layups and a pair of strong momentum dunks to lead his team. When the flow of the game slowed down he made some shots from mid-range and three. He's made the transition to top player very easy and has the task of leading a deep team to the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1874876' first='Trey' last='Brost'] Bolingbrook 2028 6'0

Trey played with a lot of aggression on the court. He was good at trapping guards and forcing steals. His energy on defense led to several points for the Raiders. Brost is a floor leader who moves the ball well and makes shots with consistency when left open. He's primed for a big senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2862587' first='Dajuan' last='Brown'] Bradley Bourbonnais 2029 6'2

Dajuan had a strong first impression. He looked the part hitting two threes coming right off the bench. Then made a couple of difficult shots when attacking the paint. Brown handles the ball well and is good in drive and kick situations. As a guard he rebounds the ball well and can be a solid defender. Dajuan is one of the better incoming freshmen in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552393' first='Gabriel' last='Sularski'] Lemont 2026 6'7

Sularski had some moments that reminded everyone in the gym why he's one of the top players in his class. He's added some weight and strength to his frame that helps him muscle inside around bigger players. Gabe was at his best getting downhill and scoring around the basket. At times he caught the ball on the block against smaller players and drove around bigger slower players when they switched on him. At 6'7 he also made plays to guys cutting as he started to get double team attention. Sularski was good from the perimeter as he made two deep threes. Gabe seems to be ready for the June live period.

Enoch Olukolade Oak Forest 2027 6'5

Enoch is a bouncy forward who had some crazy moments where he looked as if he was going to jump through the rim himself. He's an explosive and quick jumper who has good timing on blocks and is very active on the glass on both sides of the ball. Still raw offensively Enoch is just a sophomore and has two seasons to add skill to become a legit college prospect.

Other standouts

Joe Niego Brother Rice 2026 6'7

Joe is a taller wing who is versatile on the court. Showed some promise attacking the rim on straight-lined drives. He's also capable of shooting on the perimeter.

Donavan Williams Oak Forest 2026 6'0

Williams played well in the first game. He drained several threes from the corner spots and the left wing. He has a unique shooting form but the results is that the ball goes in. Donavan was solid at getting in the lane and scoring also.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531995' first='Eze' last='Nwagwu'] St. Rita 2028 5'10

Eze is tough with the handle who didn't score a ton but showed some flashes of his passing and his presence as a defender. When Eze did score it was from a deep ball and a couple of buckets off a fastbreak.

[player_tooltip player_id='2455406' first='Kevinas' last='Salkauskas'] Lincoln Way East 2027 6'7

Skilled big man has landed at LWE. In limited minutes he hit a pair of threes. Looked good attacking from the mid-post and top of the key. He has a good command of the basketball for a big man. He has the right coach who will demand the right energy and effort from him.
