TABC has long been considered the ultimate "summer proving ground" for high schools in Texas. This year was no different with about 500 teams gathering in Dallas and with so many games to watch, it was hard to get eyes on every single prospect in the building. Luckily, I was able to catch some major noise making prospects for the Class of 2027, including some new faces I had never seen in person. Allow me to dive deeper into examining their skills and how they impacted the games for their team during the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='2026055' first='Avery' last='Huston'] was one of the main ballhandling guards for Dynamic Prep and I was able to watch him on Saturday afternoon as they faced off against SA [player_tooltip player_id='2382174' first='Brennan' last=''] at Duncanville High School. Huston has a dynamic skill set as he can function as a playmaker, slasher, or shooter and he was consistently filling all stat categories against [player_tooltip player_id='2382174' first='Brennan' last=''] as Dynamic Prep went on a huge run to ultimately win the game 61-39. Avery has been in the headlines lately for his impressive play on the EYBL circuit as well, hearing from schools such as Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Syracuse, and New Mexico State. I was really impressed with the diversity of Avery's offensive arsenal, and he will continue to turn heads playing on a stacked Dynamic Prep team.

Chris Hunt was the bounciest guard I was able to catch in person on Saturday against Atascocita on his home court of Duncanville High School. He had two posterizing dunks where he picked up steam and attacked the rim aggressively without any fear of who was in his way. Chris also has a quick shot release on his jumper, and he gets to his spots without any stoppage of speed and buries it over tough defense. Chris definitely turned up for the home fans in this contest despite the loss to the Eagles and he will keep elevating himself and the team with his leadership and tough brand of basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2362939' first='Jaxson' last='Richards'] was a key scorer for Amarillo in their close 56-47 loss to Lovejoy on Friday night. He can light it up from deep range due to his long wingspan and ability to get shots up over closing defenders, but don't sleep on his craftiness and playmaking. Richards knows how to scan the floor for open teammates and also stop on a dime and score in the post when a bucket is needed. Jax has a good hustle mentality on defense as well, helping on rebounds and loose balls. Look for Richards to make some noise this summer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2198589' first='Dawson' last='Battie'] has a really good mixture of size and deceptive speed when handling the ball on the offensive end. He has the strength to finish through tough contact on continuous drives to the rim and he can also shoot it from anywhere on the floor. One of the most versatile 2027 athletes in attendance, Dawson showed that he can be a three-level scorer but also impact the game in other ways and distribute the basketball as well as playing lockdown defense. Battie has recently gathered offers from Maryland, Wichita State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Stanford. He is ranked #1 in Texas for the class of 2027, and it was not hard to see why based on his outstanding play this weekend.

Cam Martin was a huge presence on the defensive end for Summer Creek in their one-point loss to Corpus Christi VM on Friday. Martin continuously plays aggressive on ball defense on the perimeter, and he is always in the passing lanes notching several steals and converting fastbreak layups to swing momentum towards the Bulldogs. Cam also has a consistent mid-range jumper and knows how to draw fouls when driving into the paint to get himself to the free throw line. Martin has definitely got his name on everyone's radar making waves for [program_tooltip program_id='2078786' first='Cooz' last='Elite'] this summer and will be one of the top headliners in Houston for the 2027 class.
