Scrimmage In Olivet Features Talent

I went to Olivet High School last week to see some basketball action. It was worth the trip as there were some very talented players in the gym that night. We're going to give you 5 players from the scrimmage that you should keep an eye on, both the rest of this summer and into the fall.    Miars has been rolling with the Midwest Stampede South team and you can see the improvement in his game. Miars was playing at a different pace. This was very evident defensively. Early in the scrimmage, Miars picked off a pass and turned it into a steal and score. He played with a low base and attacked the ball on D. Miars showed off a nasty pull up jumper and an on target 1 handed swing pass to a cutter.       Hall is building an elite basketball skill set. Let's stick with the defensive theme here so far. Hall came into the spring wanting to become a better defender. That's happening. The young man can shoot and is a terrific athlete, so adding defense to that tool belt was and is huge. Hall was seen using the baseline to angle off the dribble drive and forcing the pass with his length.     It was good to see Bartley play. He just has so much upside and he really played hard at the scrimmage, hitting the floor multiple times for loose balls. Bartley showed the size and strength needed to be dominant around the rim. He was a huge factor on the defensive glass last week, limiting his opponents to 1 shot and out situations.     Fauz is just a freshman this season, but his frame and strength isn't that of a freshman. He could be an instant impact 2029, at least from what I saw last week. Fauz challenged shots on defense and was active on the glass. He seemed very comfortable working as the screener in the pick and roll. Fauz even added a catch and shoot 3 pointer for good measure.     Winter showed a lot of game at the scrimmages last week. He showed 3 point range on his jumper early. I was impressed with Winter's ability to hit the paint and make the kick pass out to a shooter. He even used a pass fake and take to draw a foul. Winter was just really active on both ends of the floor and had a big hand in the game that way.
