It’s June! The Scholastic Period has begun, meaning prospects across the Palmetto State are back with their High School programs for the next 30 days competing in various camps and events. This weekend I was in North Augusta, South Carolina for the annual South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Live Team Camp. Over 100 SCHSL Schools were in attendance, playing in front of College Coaches. These five players are players who came off the bench and provided key play for their team. Check them out:
Headlining my list of X-Factors off the Bench from SCBCA Live is

. Despite looking physically raw at times, McClenic’s motor and mobility helped him play a role off the bench for the Vikings and are an intriguing combination for him down the line. Christopher had multiple active cuts for right-handed layups as well as a mobile finish through a foul. His length also helps him impact shots and control the glass on defense. McClenic went for 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 block in a win over Spartanburg.

Kaden was an X-Factor off the bench with his two-way play in North Augusta. Ferguson made some nice plays defensively, picking up the ball at the timeline and making life difficult for his man. He also got his hands on some passes and had 3 steals. On offense, Kaden showcased his vision and handle when he had the ball, and also knocked down a pull-up jumper and a pair of free throws. Ferguson finished with 8 points in a win over James Island.

Regan had a nice showing in Lexington’s win over Wando, but he will be a major X-Factor throughout the season. Not many schools have a 6’6″ guy on their team, let alone one that comes off the bench. Bryant has not yet tapped into his full potential but did show flashes in the pick-and-roll and with his back-to-the-basket. His wide frame makes him tough to get around and allows him to back down matchups so that he can get to his right hand.

AJ was an X-Factor off the bench with his physicality. He has a real size advantage on the court and his strength plays a role in everything he does. I watched two Westwood games this weekend, but Veal was particularly important in the matchup with Dorman. In that game, he provided life off the bench with rim protection, rebounding on both ends, and a finish through contact to help keep the Redhawks close. AJ finished with 3 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 block.

Rounding out the list of X-Factors off the Bench is Clover’s Jackson Hill. Hill is a multi-sport athlete for the Blue Eagles and despite not being the tallest of Forwards, he is a big body and one that walls up on defense and punishes mismatches on offense. Jackson was key in the second half of Clover’s win over Christ Church with inside scoring and glass cleaning. He tallied 10 points and 5 rebounds in the win.
