Rankings Release: Guards Galore in 2027

We've updated the rankings for the Class of 2027, which means it's time to acknowledge some of the prospects that made the list.   Today, we'll start our positional breakdown by looking at the Guards.   Below are ten prospects, ranking from just inside the Top 30 to the Watch List, that cracked our latest rankings update.    Avery, a combo guard out of Austin Prep in Massachusetts, is a high level scorer that plays with great aggression on the offensive end of the floor. He's really good with the ball in his hands, but also impresses when he slides off the ball and operates as a catch and shoot shot maker. He's got deep range on his jumper, a quick release, and does a nice job of elevating off the floor to get it off. He's hard to guard in the open floor, where he uses his physical frame to play through bumps and finish through contact at the rim. Defensively, he has the ability to guard either back-court spot and moves well laterally, making dribble penetration difficult for opposing guards.      Charlot, a lead guard out of Notre Dame-Fairfield in Connecticut, is a dynamic ball-handler and on-ball defender. He has the ball on a string as a creator, showing the ability to play at different speeds and change directions with ease. He accepts double teams without being sped up, makes good decisions out of ball screens, and is a creative passer off the bounce. He has good burst and the ability to score around the rim with explosiveness and creativity. Defensively, he has elite foot quickness and does a good job of using his hands to create steals without fouling.     DeBernardo, a scoring guard out of the Brunswick School in Connecticut, shows the ability to score at multiple levels both on and off the basketball. He fills up a stat sheet with his ability to score, create for others, and willingness to mix it up on the defensive glass. He's got some creativity off the bounce, shows nice burst when turning the corner out of ball screens, and is a shot maker with deep range on his jumper. He makes plays with a high basketball IQ, understands how to use screens to get open, and can get into his jumper off the bounce. Defensively, he gives good effort at the point of attack and has the size to guard either back-court spot.     Lenus, a combo guard out of Mount Saint Charles Academy in Rhode Island, is a creative prospect on the offensive end of the floor with potential to be a shutdown defender on the other end. He's pushing 6'2", with great length, and shows real comfort as an on-ball creator. He has a quick first step, can slip through tight spaces off the bounce, and has the ability to score in the mid-range. He slides off the ball and knocks down shots in catch and shoot situations at a high clip. Defensively, he can guard any perimeter spot and does a great job of staying in front of the ball and forcing turnovers with his length.     Rodrigues, a combo guard out of Salem High School in Massachusetts, is a big time scorer that knows how to put the ball in the basket at multiple levels. A long, lean, and slippery scorer, he took his game to another level this winter with his ability to make plays off the bounce and finish through contact at the rim. He's a good finisher in traffic, has some creativity off the bounce, and is able to stop on a dime and elevate in the mid-range. His offensive game is smooth and look almost effortless at times, as he's ultra confident in big moments. On the other end, he has the ability to make plays in passing lanes, while also showing a willingness to rebound in space.     Grudzien, a lead guard out of Marianapolis Preparatory School in Connecticut, is a strong ball-handler that gets to his spots off the bounce and makes plays for others. He has a strong frame and uses it to his advantage when opponents try to bump him off his lines on drives. He does a good job of pushing the pace in transition, shows the ability to break down the initial defender off the bounce, and has the ability to finish with strength around the rim. His passing and floor vision are seperating skills as he does a great job of making the game easier for his teammates. Defensively, he hits the floor for loose balls, is willing to take charges, and knows how to make plays in passing lanes.     Janvier, a lead guard out of Tabor Academy in Massachusetts, has a physically advanced frame and the ability to impact a game in a variety of ways on the offensive end of the floor. He does a nice job of playing through contact with the ball in his hands, can score in a variety of ways around the rim, and does a nice job off the ball as a catch and shoot scorer. As a creator, he has the ability to make plays for other with his floor vision and touch as a passer. Defensively. he moves his feet to stay in front of the ball and uses his strength to keep opponents out of the paint.     Dawson, a lead guard out of the Hopkins School in Connecticut, is an active defender that shows the ability to make plays in the open floor with the ball in his hands. Defensively, he really competes on the ball, using his lateral quickness to stay in front of the ball and showing quick burst in passing lanes. Offensively, he has a quick first step, gets downhill off the bounce, and is improving as a catch and shoot threat off the ball. He makes good decisions out of ball screens, knows how to use shot and pass fakes to his advantage, and can score over size with touch.     Meng, a lead guard out of the Groton School in Massachusetts, is a plus athlete that shows an ability to put the ball in the basket at multiple levels. He can handle the ball in the half-court, showing an ability to play at different speeds, quickly change directions, and slip through tight spaces. He's got nice burst around the basket and has worked to improve his perimeter jumper. On the other end of the floor, he has the ability to guard either spot in the back-court and does a nice job of being first to the floor for loose balls while also showing a willingness to rebound in space.     Ramos, a combo guard out of Lexington Christian Academy in Massachusetts, is an above the rim athlete that has the ability to score with deep range on his jumper. He's got good burst off the bounce and once he gets some space, can elevate to finish with authority around the rim. He moves well without the ball, uses screens to his advantage, and can knock down shots consistently in catch and shoot situations. He's really good in transition and has the ability to finish through contact at the rim. Defensively, he can guard all three perimeter spots, while competing on the glass both in traffic and in space.
