<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Next up in our&nbsp;<em>Program Profiles</em>&nbsp;series is&nbsp;<em>Rhode Island Elite</em>, also known as&nbsp;<em>RI Elite</em>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Based out of Rhode Island, RI Elite is led by its co-founders, Nuri Mahmoud and Nick Light.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The only program in New England to play on <em>PUMA's Pro16 League</em>, RI Elite has developed numerous scholarship level players in recent year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The program's mission is to help student-athletes succeed and grow by focusing on the entire person - academics, athletics, healthy living, and conflict resolution education. Arguably the most athletic prospect to come out of Maine this year, he's got serious two-way potential as a budding playmaker and versatile defender. He moves well laterally, has terrific positional length, and posses a threat as a weakside shot blocker. Offensively, he's done a nice job of developing his isolation game and has drastically improved as a perimeter shooter. A big guard with a high level of skill, he does a nice job of scoring at the first and third levels, as both a creator and shot maker. He plays with good pace, does a nice job of making reads out of ball screens, and can really knock down shots in catch and shoot situations. Defensively, he has the ability to guard up and down a position, while also making an impact on the defensive glass. Another two-way standout, he's got good size, plus athleticism, and plays with a high motor on both ends of the floor. He's got some serious shot creation ability in the mid-range, but also does a nice job of taking advantage of mismatches in the post. He can get to the rim off the bounce, runs the floor well in transition, and finishes with both hands in the paint. Defensively, he can guard a variety of positions, both in the paint and on the perimeter, and is a terrific defensive rebounder. Coming off of a standout performance at the <em>Pangos All-American Camp</em>, he's an elite athlete that makes explosive plays on both ends of the floor. A hybrid forward, he has the ability to guard up and down a lineup while making plays in passing lanes and protecting the rim. He gets up and down the floor quickly, is a terrific offensive rebounder, and has the ability to take over games as a downhill driver. A key member of <em>Ellington's</em> undefeated, state championship winning team this winter, he's a skilled guard that can fill a variety of roles on the offensive end of the floor. Already 6'3", he has good positional size, plus length, and plays with a terrific feel for the game on the offensive end of the floor. He already shows impressive vision in the half-court and the ability to knock down shots in bunches from behind the arc. As he continues to get stronger, his ability to impact the game on the defensive end of the floor should only rise. He'll be a fun prospect to track going forward as he has all the tools to play at the next level and has already established a winning pedigree.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
