McKinney took his game to the next level as a junior and was one of the breakout stars in Ohio last year. Now McKinney heads into his senior season as one of the best players in the state. In two games I've seen of Reynoldsburg and McKinney this summer, he's been one of the best players on the court with some really impressive shot-making ability. Hitting tough shots off the dribble, McKinney hasn't let a shot contest alter his looks. Defensively, McKinney had some impressive plays forcing a five second count and blocking a couple shots. McKinney should be in contention for Mr Basketball this winter if Reynoldsburg has the same level of success they had last season.

Despite missing a couple of projected key pieces in the early games on Thursday, Cincinnati Taft still got after it defensively and showed off their athleticism. With a bunch of guys who want to pressure the ball and turn you over, opposing guards have to be able to handle traps and pressure thrown at them. I thought their entire team did a nice job rotating defensively and pressuring without fouling. The addition of Hinton also provides some stability at the lead guard position with an experienced floor general who had some tough finishes at the rim and rebounds the ball at a high rate for a guard thanks to his motor and frame. Safe to say Cincinnati Taft will be one of the more exciting teams in southwest Ohio once again this winter.

I was really impressed with what Rardin showed me on Wednesday, looking confident attacking off the dribble and making a lot of offensive plays. At his size on the wing, Rardin can space the floor if you put a bigger defender on him or seal and finish over a guard sized defender. Rardin found his most success when he was able to drive and get back to his left hand with the spin move and liked the scoop layup as a finishing technique. Maybe his best play of the day came on a pick and roll where Rardin read the help defense and hit his roll man with a nice bounce pass in traffic. One of the more talented wings in southwest Ohio's 2028 class, Rardin will make his debut in our rankings during our end of July update.

Fitting in well with Centerville's chopping wood mentality, Rohrer has fit like a glove as a lead ball handler and facilitator for the Elks this summer. With a strong build, Rohrer doesn't get pushed off his spots and when he gets to the paint he plays off two feet to stay on balance. I've been impressed with how Rohrer has impacted the game at a high level despite a massive step up in competition.

Had to show love to the hosts as they had some scrappy performances with a new look squad after graduating a stud duo from last season. This new opportunity allows for new players to shine and Vetter impressed me with the ball in his hands. A couple nice live dribble passes that led to assists and executing BLOB plays as well, Vetter was helping generate easy looks for his team. Oak Hills will always be a tough out due to their togetherness, ball security and rebounding ability and this year looks no different.
