The last team camp I'm attending before the June live period was held at Miami OH and brought out some top teams from Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, in this article I'll spotlight the standout performers from Ohio and Indiana that I caught.

One of the best individual performances I've seen all June was Poellnitz Vs Great Crossing as the young guard is really starting to blossom in front of our eyes. Poellnitz is getting the on ball reps this summer as the lead guard for a Toledo St Francis squad that won a regional title last season and expectations are high again next season. One of the most gifted athletes in the 2028 class, Poellnitz had a crazy dunk and simply moves at a different speed and rhythm than other guards his age. I was also impressed with the feel Poellnitz is starting to flash, with some impressive quick decision making as a passer. Expect to hear a lot more about Poellnitz over the next three years.

One of the most dominant bigs in Ohio's 2026 class, Horton was back playing with a mask on and the rising senior was dominant on the interior finishing with either hand at the rim with numerous and-1 layups. When Horton can seal and catch on the block, it's two points more often than not. Horton was offered by Miami (OH) back in May and certainly impressed the staff with his play today.

Tyson has blown up this summer with offers from each of the three in-state high major programs coming his way. In a battle with Louisville St Xavier Tyson knocked down a 3-pointer with six seconds left to cap off a miraculous comeback for his Firebird squad. One of the elite athletes and defenders in Ohio, when Tyson is scoring the ball at a high level he is basically unstoppable. Look for Tyson and Lakota West to draw heavy crowds during the June Live Period action.

Caught an under the radar team in Marion Harding who have won a lot of basketball games over the past three years thanks to players like Paz. An impressive athlete, Paz could attack a closeout and was quick to sprint down the court for transition opportunities. Defensively, Paz showed impressive on-ball pressure by forcing turnovers and a five second violation. I would imagine Marion Harding remains a tough out in their conference if Paz continues to play at a high level.

McGrew was absolutely dominant on the interior for a Fishers squad that looks in midseason form in June. McGrew used his size and length to finish over defenders and did so in a variety of ways. Whether it was on the short roll, on second chance opportunities or sitting in the dunker spot, McGrew was catching and finishing efficiently. McGrew was also causing turnovers due to his length and activity on the defensive end of the court. One of the top bigs in Indiana's 2026 class, McGrew is a big addition to a Fishers squad that is looking to get back to the state title and win it this time.

I'm not sure I've watched a player compete like Zachary has all summer. Defensively the ball pressure Zachary was putting on opposing guards was unreal. Just relentless activity on the ball defensively without fouling and overall making life miserable for anybody across him. As an offensive player Zachary is very skilled as he passes and shoots it at a high level but it was the defensive activity and energy that really caught my eye on Wednesday.
