Day One Standouts: Cali-Live

On Friday June 27 at Ladera Sports Complex. The Boys California Live event got under way. There's plenty of college coaches from around the country here to check out prospects from the West Coast. Northern California is well represented with 40 teams here to compete with the best teams on the West Coast. PH NorCal is in the building evaluating NorCal Players. Here are some standouts from the early games we saw.    Standing 6'9 with a long wingspan Williams is showing he'll have paint presence on the defensive side of the ball. He blocked, and changed shots. He's getting rebounds. He's still developing his offensive skill set. He'll be a go to guy in the post for this young team.       Perry had a standout game. The long wiry lefty seems to be comfortable snatching rebounds and taking off with his dribble putting pressure on the defense, he'll go coast to coast, going up high finishing above the rim, and off the glass. He's showing he can operate on the perimeter, taking defenders off the dribble with long strides and minimum bounces. He has a long reach to change shots on the defensive side of the ball.     He might be one of NorCal's top 3-point shooters when it's all said and done. He's one you can run a play for after a timeout, or when you need a quick 3ptr. He has good form setting up around the perimeter/corners ready for catch and shoot 3's. He dropped 2 or 3 down the stretch to give his team a chance.     Dodge is finding traction as a rising prospect in the 2026 class. He's having a breakout June. Standing 6'4 he has a good understanding of the game, an improving skill set. He takes care of the ball, makes good decisions. He's an improving ball handler with good passing. He'll use a dribble or two for the mid-range. He's hitting 3's at a good rate.     Malm seems to have firmed up his lower base. Standing 6'9 he has an improving inside/out game. He's an excellent passer from the post area. He can be a target working his way through the post. He's shown he can hit 3's from the top and corners. He can be a double double guy at this level.     He's longer, still growing and has a frame to fill. He's benefitted from playing on the EYBL Circuit. He's moving better, more aggressive with an improving skill set for the forward position. He's actively going after rebounds and blocks. He's using his dribble, and body taking on defenders getting to the front of the rim. He looks more comfortable putting up 3's around the perimeter.
