June 5th-7th I attended the 18th annual Best in Basketball Summer Invitational at Mesquite HS in Gilbert/AZ.

There were 28 local teams who played in one to five showcase games.

Here is the All-Tournament 2nd Team:

[player_tooltip player_id='2337138' first='Jadd' last='Agha'] Phoenix Country Day

The bigger wing forward had one of the better performers of the weekend with 34 points and 10 rebounds. He scores with mid-range jumpers off the dribble and deep threes off the catch. He can take a ball off the glass and push it on the break as he is handling it more and more. He rebounds well in his area and he is a good passer. He hit some of his threes from NBA range.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432574' first='Terrance' last='Byrd'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A bigger point forward is gifted. He uses his size and handle to get downhill and scores with plus body control. He cuts off the ball, hesitates to the basket, he can back you down and will post up and go to work. He is a really good passer and rebounds and blocks shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2275986' first='KJ' last='Fauske'] Seton Catholic Prep

KJ is another who had some monster games. He is a deadeye shooter from the three point line with college range off the catch. He has one of those pure strokes that when he releases it, you are surprised he misses. He also uses the floater game, he can crossover into a mid-range pull-up and uses the euro step with either hand.

[player_tooltip player_id='1676630' first='Kristo' last='Jackson'] San Tan Charter

A two-way tough defensive minded shooting guard. He is a top defender on the ball with strength and impressive lateral quickness. He will rebound and even block shots. He will score with threes off the catch, euro steps, crow hops with springs to the basket and mid-range pull-ups. He also gets to the free throw line as he puts pressure on the defense attacking.

[player_tooltip player_id='2249943' first='Lleyton' last='Leonard'] Basha

One of the more active wing forwards in the AIA with a big time motor. He rebounds the ball in bunches and he is relentless on the glass and super active all-around defender. He will defend the 1-5 in a pinch and score with the catch threes, incredible dunks way above the rim and tough layups in traffic.

[player_tooltip player_id='1986796' first='Peyton' last='Lubash'] San Tan Charter

The undersized scoring point guard is such a tough cover as he is one of the more skilled guards out here. He has legit three point range from the volleyball line and gets the ball out of his hands so quickly before the defense can close out. He will score with mid-range jumpers off the dribble and he is very fast on the break with multiple transition layups. He is also a very good passer with pinpoint vision.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482164' first='Desean' last='Middlebrook'] Basha

A versatile wing forward will defend nearly every position on the court. He defended some of the best players in the AIA this week and rebounded and blocked shots. He scores with offensive rebound put backs, rip thrus, catch threes, cuts to the rim and will quickly go up inside and never bring the ball down so it won't get blocked.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276223' first='Kingston' last='Montague'] Basha

One of the better scorers in the rising sophomore class had some big moments. He is a quick starter in many games with triples off the catch, contact takes after he bursts to the basket with a nice handle, mid-range jumpers, step thrus, in and out moves and the burst. He will also dump it off to a post player with advanced court vision when he is looking to make a play.

[player_tooltip player_id='1555180' first='Delton' last='Prescott III'] Sunnyslope

A true table setter with elite speed and the ball is on a string to handle all kinds of pressure thrown at him. He changes speeds well and can just simply outrace his opponents. He has great court vision and will score. He lives in the mid-range area but he can step into a three or go downhill. He guided his team to 4-0.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291974' first='Nick' last='Reber'] Highland

A thicker framed scoring guard will fill it up with threes off the catch and mid-range pull-ups off the dribble. He had multiple and-1's over the three days with his stronger frame and smartly hesitates and will get to the basket. He plays with great pace and he is also a better passer then he gets credited for.

[player_tooltip player_id='2318334' first='Karson' last='Reid'] Williams Field (Pictured)

A long bigger scoring guard will have a huge year next season in 6A. He will score maybe close to 20ppg is my guess with deep three point range and a polished mid-range pull-up. He has off the dribble jumpers and a smooth handle in the open court. He will make some reverse layups and he is a sneaky good passer and rebounder.

[player_tooltip player_id='1464983' first='Mick' last='Riordan'] St. Mary's

A bigger combo guard has an elite pace and feel. His IQ jumps off the page along with his skill. He makes the game look easy with stop and pops from mid-range, deep three point jumpers off the pick and will go coast to coast with good body control in the air. He will make extra passes and knows when to facilitate or score.
